Biden admin prepares for new Green agenda push, this time targeting gas furnaces

American consumers will soon learn the damages the Green agenda will do to their finances as President Joe Biden’s administration reportedly nears finalizing regulations on appliances.

Insistence from the White House about the president not supporting “banning gas stoves” has remained about as plausible as former President Barack Obama’s claim that “If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor.” Previously, it was covered that washers and refrigerators would also be impacted, and now home heating is feeling the squeeze.

After the Department of Energy (DOE) initially proposed regulations in June 2022 regarding greenhouse gas emissions, experts spoke with Fox News Digital to assert the plans could impact more than 50 percent of American homes by removing choices on their gas furnaces.

“This is a classic example of one size not fitting all,” said Ben Lieberman, a senior fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute. “Every home is different, every homeowner is different and people are best off having a wide range of choices. They can work with their contractor to make the best decision for their home and their circumstances.”

The DOE disagreed with that as their latest regulations were said to require an annual fuel utilization efficiency (AFUE) of 95 percent by 2029. Currently, that standard regarding the overall conversion of fuel to energy rests at 80 percent.

“The efficiency standard would effectively outlaw non-condensing furnaces and condensing alternatives would be the only ones available,” Lieberman explained.

“Those are more efficient, but they cost more. And installation costs could be a big problem for some houses that are not compatible with condensing furnaces,” he added as the DOE had claimed their standards would save the average family roughly $100 annually while boasting of carbon emissions cuts of 373 million metric tons.

The impact of the regulations comes after the so-called conspiracy theory that the administration was going to ban gas stoves was proven true after the DOE acknowledged that “roughly half of all gas stoves on the U.S. market today would not meet its proposed cooking appliance efficiency regulations.”

Richard Meyer, vice president of energy markets, analysis and standards at the American Gas Association (AGA), expressed to Fox News Digital, “There are some really technical reasons why this is such a concerning rule. It has to do with the ability for consumers to be in compliance with this new efficiency standard.”

“They’re going to have to, in many cases, install new equipment to exhaust gas out of their home. These higher efficiency units, or so-called condensing units — a lot of consumers have them in their home, but a lot of consumers don’t,” he continued. “So, this rule would require additional retrofits for a lot of consumers. And those retrofits can be extremely cost prohibitive.”

“What we’re seeing across the U.S. federal government and reflected, of course, in many states right now is an active policy push intended to address climate change. But the outcome is to restrict the options and availability of the direct use of natural gas for consumers,” Meyer argued.

Of equal concern, as the president remains under investigation for alleged influence peddling with foreign nationals, was the fact that Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm had met privately with a “green group” with “significant ties to the Chinese government” that had funded a study used by the administration to promote the regulations on gas stoves.

“Suffice it to say,” Americans for Public Trust executive director Caitlan Sutherland had said, “‘ridiculous’ and ‘not true’ proposals don’t ordinarily involve a meeting with the Secretary of Energy — and where there’s smoke, there’s fire. Americans everywhere must demand Granholm and green energy extremists stay out of their kitchens.”
