Christie held secret meeting with GOP ‘kingmakers’, vowed to take on Trump in ‘angry’ rant: report

Chris Christie appealed to Republican bigwigs in a private meeting in which he made his case that he would be the solution to their Trump problem, expressing his willingness to be deployed as a human torpedo to sink the 2024 GOP frontrunner in a 45-minute rant in New Hampshire, according to a new report on the former New Jersey governor who is ready to declare his candidacy.

The Daily Mail dished the scoop on Christie’s clandestine meeting with “Republican kingmakers” that reportedly took place behind closed doors six weeks ago as the buzz began to build that the ABC News pundit and failed 2016 presidential candidate would join the crowded field of White House hopefuls, vowing to the high rollers that he was ready  “to get into the ring” with the former president, a man he has fiercely criticized.

“It was all about Trump. He was just wants to get into the ring with him and beat him up. He’s not in it to win it,” said one unnamed source who the outlet said was present at the previously unreported event.

“Christie seemed very angry. He was saying I am the guy who can take on Trump, but I was left wondering if he had any other policies,” said another source who was there.

Trump doesn’t appear to be shaking in his boots at the prospect of Christie going after him and seems to view it as a big fat joke.

The former POTUS has even rolled out a nickname for the bombastic ex-governor.

“It will be a race to see who will be the first to get to 1% in the Republican Primary, Sloppy Chris Christie, who had a 9% approval rating when he was Governor of New Jersey, or the little known (for a reason!) Governor of New Hampshire, Chris Sununu, who is 30 points down to me in his own State, and never lifts a finger to help anybody but himself. Both of these gentlemen are wasting their time and money, they have ZERO chance!” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Friday.

ABC News stated that it was suspending its relationship with Christie as a contributor in anticipation of his entry into the GOP field which is already shaping up to be a brutal steel cage death match with maximum damage inflicted upon Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis by the lesser candidates that could end up having the ultimate result of putting Joe Biden back into the White House for another four years to finish the job of destroying America.

“Everybody can be fooled once by a shuckster, by a TV star,” Christie said during an appearance at a New Hampshire town hall. “But if we allow ourselves to be fooled twice, we have no one to blame but ourselves. And let me promise you, if he is the nominee in 2024, Joe Biden will be the president in 2025.”

In a recent interview with Politico, Christie boasted that he called up an unnamed former GOP presidential candidate for advice on whether he should jump into the race to face off against Trump for a second time which he believes he could pull off by “taking direct aim at Trump’s weaknesses — his questionable character, his lack of discipline and, most of all, his losing record.”

“No one else has the balls to do it,” the unnamed ex-candidate allegedly replied to Christie whose tenure as New Jersey’s governor was marked by his brash confrontational manner and swagger.

Christie backed Trump in the 2016 election after he dropped out of the race but times have clearly changed.

The Associated Press reported that Christie “is set to launch his bid for the Republican nomination for president at a town hall in New Hampshire on Tuesday evening.”
