Bannon calls for MTG, other 148 GOP lawmakers to be primaried over debt ceiling vote

Hard feelings continue to reverberate with some conservatives after the deal with President Joe Biden to raise the debt ceiling that many felt was a sellout by Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy, and Steve Bannon is calling for every one of the Republican lawmakers who voted for it be primaried.

The former Trump administration adviser called for all GOP House members who voted to give a big win to the embattled Biden to face primary challenges for their seats in next year’s elections, seemingly including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) who recently had a break with Bannon over her support of the “turd sandwich” of a bill.

On Monday’s edition of his “War Room” podcast, the host who is influential with the GOP’s MAGA base reiterated his message that voting for the pact with Biden merits a strong response.

“The Republican Party, those 149 who voted for it, who all have to be primaried,” he said. “Let me repeat that. All of them, including people we’re quite fond of and some who we used to be fond of, have to be primaried.”

“You know why? They have to stand on a debate stage in the primary season and they have to justify what they did with the knowledge they had, at the time what went on and then what the impact is, because the impact on primary season is going to be a lot worse than it is today,” he said.

On Thursday, Bannon who had called for any Republican who backed the debt ceiling bill to be punished, said on GETTR that Greene and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) “should both face primary challenges from real MAGA”

Friction over the bill has apparently led to bad blood between Greene and Bannon and the fiery Georgia lawmaker reportedly texted that she was “done” with the conservative host.

Left-wing media outlet Daily Beast reported that it obtained a text message between Greene and Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) in which she allegedly expressed her frustration with Bannon’s call for her to face a primary challenge.

“I have almost the same identical voting record as Thomas Massie, the most fiscally conservative member of Congress. And I voted with him on this bill,” she reportedly wrote in the text, referring to the debt limit deal. “And Bannon, who was senior counsel to Trump in the WH and responsible for the first debt ceiling increase bc Bannon is reckless and no where near fiscally responsible, is now telling everyone I should be primaried.”

“Steve, Loomer, and any other POS attacking me will not beat me,” she reportedly wrote. “Because of that people have been reaching out to me because they don’t like what Steve is doing to me… I’m at a place in my life where removing toxic and bad people out of my life makes me very happy.”

“Steve and I aren’t getting back together,” she added. “And if he keeps it up I’ll take the house and kids. I hope you send it to Steve. Because I’m done.”

Grace Chong, the CFO and COO of Bannon’s podcast shared his call to action on Twitter along with a list of all GOP House lawmakers who voted with McCarthy and the Democrats.

Chong also tweeted out Greene’s office phone number along with a video of the congresswoman explaining her support for the deal with Biden to constituents at a recent town hall.

Biden scored an immense propaganda victory with a big assist from McCarthy by avoiding blame for a potential default which he would have been criticized for, now he is able to run for reelection on saving the country from an economic catastrophe.
