Calls rise for ‘complete’ end to drilling as Dems take aim at Manchin’s pipeline

For a left-wing zealot with a volcanic temper, Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) sure gets a lot of face time on television news shows, and the easily triggered Democrat was featured on CNN where he gave his take on the debt ceiling deal and called for the complete end of fossil fuel drilling as being needed to forestall the constantly hyped climate apocalypse.

With an agreement on avoiding a national default now in place after a surprise Memorial Day weekend pact between President Joe Biden and Republican Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy, the final bill is being hammered out with plenty of criticism from conservative GOP lawmakers like Rep. Chip Roy (Texas) who referred to it as a “turd sandwich” and progressive Democrats, a group that Bowman is a member of.

The ticking human time bomb and male “Squad” member joined CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer on Monday and the conversation turned to one specific provision that would fast-track a massive natural gas pipeline for approval, a highly sought outcome by West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin, the moderate Democrat who has been determined to get the 300+ mile project completed.

Bowman is among the Democrats who aren’t down with the inclusion of the Mountain Valley Pipeline in the bill and portrayed it as a part of the larger battle to avoid doomsday by moving from cheap reliable fossil fuels to unreliable sustainable energy that has donors seeing green.

“Another major problem is the Joe Manchin pipeline that we fought so hard to stop from being built,” he said while rattling off sticking points with the bill. “That is still a part of this bill.”

“And what’s problematic about that is number one, we need to stop drilling for fossil fuels completely, but number two, we need an expedited way to get us to clean renewable energy or we will continue to have these severe weather events that we have been having for quite some time because of the warming of the planet,” he claimed.

While Bowman was chatting with Blitzer, Senator Tim Kaine (D-Va.) who is most well known for being Hillary Clinton’s running mate in her doomed 2016 campaign, was working to cut the legs out from under his colleague Manchin and his pipeline.

On Monday, Kaine’s office told the Washington Examiner that the senator will be filing an amendment to revoke permits for the pipeline project as part of the debt ceiling legislation.

“A spokesperson said Kaine is ‘extremely disappointed by the provision of the bill to greenlight the controversial Mountain Valley Pipeline in Virginia, bypassing the normal judicial and administrative review process every other energy project has to go through,’” the outlet reported.

“Last summer, I introduced legislation to complete the Mountain Valley Pipeline. I am pleased Speaker McCarthy and his leadership team see the tremendous value in completing the MVP to increase domestic energy production and drive down costs across America and especially in WV,” Manchin crowed on Twitter after the tentative agreement was struck.”

“I am proud to have fought for this critical project and to have secured the bipartisan support necessary to get it across the finish line,” Manchin added.

When it comes to double-crossing Manchin, Bowman will be all-in with the Green New Deal being the crown jewel of “Squad” leader and socialist firebrand Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), but the Mountaineer State moderate surrendered any real leverage that he may have had when he sold the country down the river on the Inflation Reduction Act last year and is now a lame duck.
