President Joe Biden is expected to have smooth sailing all the way to the Democratic Party nomination thanks to what many see as a rigged process, but there are ominous signs for the unpopular leader with the results of a just-released CNN poll being “horrible” news for the incumbent, according to anchor Jake Tapper.
On a day when the octogenarian career politician blew town along with congressional lawmakers, leaving the debt ceiling negotiations in limbo as elected officials enjoy some R&R over the long holiday weekend, the mood in the country is sour and continuing to percolate with discontent and the cable news network’s survey found that two-thirds of Americans would see Biden’s reelection as either a setback or a disaster for the nation.

“Horrible news. Horrible, for Joe Biden in our new CNN poll,” Tapper said on Thursday’s edition of “The Lead” where he and CNN Political Director David Chalian broke down the numbers.
“While the president leads his democratic competitors by a huge margin, two-thirds of all of the American people surveyed, 66 percent of the public, say that a Biden victory would either be a setback or a disaster for the United States,” he said.
Tapper then turned the floor over to his colleague who dissected the brutal numbers for the White House with the bad news being that, with Biden still having over 18 months left, they could get even worse. Especially if his refusal to negotiate in good faith with Republicans over sensible spending cuts on the debt ceiling drives the country into default, a result that some have predicted would have catastrophic effects on ordinary Americans who have already been economically battered by the regime’s policies.
Chalian displayed the breakdown that showed Biden predictably doing well with diehard Democrats against Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and Marianne Williamson, his two primary opponents, but the numbers begin to skew against him when the critical independents are taken into consideration with 55 percent open to possibly changing their mind although Biden supporters are locked in.
“And David, when it comes to how voters see Joe Biden and another presidential term,” Tapper interjected. “I mean that…those are some bad numbers.”
Chalian then showed that a whopping 57 percent of Americans have an unfavorable opinion of Biden versus only 35 percent who are down with the destruction inflicted upon the country and are practically begging for more.
He then showed that Biden’s numbers have been cratering with independents, the same swing voters who were hoodwinked by his promises to be a unifier during the 2020 campaign.
“That’s a big warning sign,” Chalian said.
After Tapper asked how the Democrat’s numbers tacked up against former President Donald J. Trump, the current GOP frontrunner, Chalian observed that “they’re both not looking good,” then came the punch in the gut for Biden.
A shocking 67 percent see a Biden reelection being a disaster or setback for America with only 7 percent of the most deluded seeing a second term as a triumph, far worse than Trump who despite his own problematic numbers, is seen as a far better option.

“It’s worse for Biden,” Tapper said, “but for both of them, most of the American people think electing them would be a disaster or a setback, for both Joe Biden and Donald Trump, the current Democratic and Republican frontrunners.”
“It is not an election the American people want,” opined Chalian.
“What a country,” exclaimed Tapper. “What a country.”
