And it’s on! Casey DeSantis drops video launching hubby’s White House bid: ‘America is worth the fight’

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to formally declare that he is running for president during a live appearance Wednesday evening on Twitter with the social media platform’s owner, Elon Musk, but the Republican governor’s wife let the cat out of the bag Tuesday night.

Casey DeSantis tweeted an inspiring video Tuesday making it clear that after all the talk and speculation, her husband will enter the 2024 Republican primary. The move puts Gov. DeSantis on a course that will result in a head-to-head matchup with former President Donald Trump and his merry band of Only Trumpers. An inevitability that is “worth the fight,” according to the video.

“They call it faith because in the face of darkness you can see that brighter future. A faith that our best days lay ahead of us. But is it worth the fight? Do I have the courage? Is it worth the sacrifice? America has been worth it every single time,” the ad says, with Ron DeSantis appearing on the screen readying himself to take the stage.

“America is worth the fight… Every. Single. Time,” read the caption of the tweet from Florida’s first lady.

As the ad fades to black, a number to text for more information appears. Respondents receive this message: “Thank you for subscribing to receive texts from Ron DeSantis for President.”

Mrs. DeSantis teased the coming presidential bid earlier Tuesday, sharing a Fox News article about her husband’s expected Wednesday launch — along with a smiley-face emoji, she tweeted, “Big if true…”

DeSantis’s website was also wiped of everything on Tuesday and now displays nothing more than a black screen with an alligator. The DeSantis War Room Twitter account posted the blank page,. along with the caption: “05.24.2023”.

Gov. DeSantis is scheduled to appear with Fox News’ Trey Gowdy Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET on “Fox News Tonight,” in what the network billed as his “first national TV interview following the announcement,.”

In addition to Trump, DeSantis will be up against Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley,  former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, conservative radio host Larry Elder, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, and businessman Perry Johnson.

The aforementioned video was met with plenty of enthusiasm online, as seen here:

But the ad also gave rise to what may soon be a household term: DeSantis Derangement Syndrome.
