Kevin McCarthy: FBI will turn over file alleging VP Biden was on the take

After a Friday phone call to FBI Director Christopher Wray, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) believes the bureau will finally produce for Congress a contested informant file in which a confidential source alleges that, as vice president, Biden accepted bribes from a foreign national to influence U.S. policy.

“I wanted to be very clear with the FBI director that Congress has a right and we have the jurisdiction to oversee the FBI,” McCarthy told Fox News’s Maria Bartiromo on “Sunday Morning Futures.”

“This is one piece of paper that a chairman of a committee has requested to see,” he added.

As BizPac Review previously reported, the FBI has thus far snubbed Congress and refused to comply with a legally binding subpoena issued by House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) requesting the potentially explosive FD-1023 form.

In a six-page letter to Comer, the FBI acting assistant director for congressional affairs, Christopher Dunham, explained that any information gleaned from a confidential human source is “incomplete” and providing the information would place the informant and the informant’s loved ones “at great risk.”

Last week, in a stunning interview with Bartiromo, Comer revealed that they can’t find the informant and whistleblowers have gone “missing.”

“Well, unfortunately, we can’t track down the informant,” Comer replied. “We’re hopeful that the informant is still there.”

With respect to the whistleblowers, Comer told a gobsmacked Bartiromo that “Nine of the ten people that we’ve identified that have very good knowledge with respect to the Bidens, they’re one of three things: They’re either currently in court, they’re currently in jail, or they’re currently missing.”

On Friday, Comer fired off a letter to Wray again demanding that the form be released, and McCarthy picked up the phone.

“I explained to the director that we will do everything in our power and we have the jurisdiction over the FBI and we have the right to see this document,” the Republican leader told Bartiromo. “I believe after this call, we will get this document.”

Comer was tipped off to the existence of the FD-1023 form by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), who learned of it from a whistleblower.

In his letter to Wray, Comer noted that the FBI was more than a week past the May 10th deadline to produce “responsive documents,” including “[a]ll FD-1023 forms, including within any open, closed, or restricted access case files, created or modified in June 2020, containing the term ‘Biden,’ including all accompanying attachments and documents to those FD-1023 forms.”

The FBI’s response, Comer said, “did not include the FD-1023 form, failed to address whether the FBI possessed documents responsive to the Committee’s subpoena, and proposed no accommodations that would allow Committee staff to view the FD-1023 forms.”

“Most troubling, the FBI staff stated they were not authorized to disclose whether the FD-1023 form exists,” Comer wrote.

“The FBI’s delay in producing a single FD-1023 form is unacceptable,” he stated.

“The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the House of Representatives,” Comer reminded Wray, “and has broad authority to investigate ‘any matter’ at ‘any time’ under House Rule X.”
