Casey DeSantis explains why she’s all in on hubby’s success: ‘I will move mountains to help him’

Though he has yet to make it official, it is presumed by all that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will challenge former President Donald Trump for the White House in 2024, and while she may not consider herself to be the “secret weapon” many make her out to be, Casey DeSantis says she will “move mountains” to help him get there.

The New York Post’s Karol Markowicz sat down with the Sunshine State’s first lady and says, despite the media’s resolve to paint Casey as the “mastermind” behind her husband’s political career, Mrs. DeSantis “generally shuns media and the spotlight.”

“She is not looking to be a star,” Markowicz writes.

Markowicz blasts Politico writer Michael Kruse, who wrote last week that Casey was both “disengaged” and “unusually important and uncommonly involved.”

“Kruse’s piece is filled with quotes from grifters and haters, people who either don’t know the DeSantises well or rely on their downfall to collect a check,” she writes, adding, “It’s understandable why they would inspire jealousy and rage from people, just as it’s understandable that a liberal media outlet would be there to lap it up.”

On Twitter, Markowicz painted a very different picture of the former television host.

“The real Casey DeSantis isn’t some cartoon character clawing her way to the top,” she tweeted. “She’s funny, smart, loves her husband & has been through something that has given her perspective that shines through in all she does.”

Contrary to those who claim Casey has always had the White House in her sights, she says she never “imagined” where she now finds herself.

“I knew Ron was smart, was from a good family, was a good person,” she said, “but never in a million years imagined where he would go.”

It wasn’t until she saw a young DeSantis at speaking engagements that she began to see his potential.

“I saw his intellect and discipline for reading and analysis,” she recalled. “He gets the data and does the research, himself. He’s constantly challenging himself.”

“People would say to him, ‘You should run for office,’ and I found myself agreeing with them,” she said. “He has such a talent to communicate complicated policy in an easy way. He gets very in-depth.”

“I will move mountains to help him,” she said, “because he’s a good guy who is doing it right.”

Markowicz marvels at Casey’s ability to “easily articulate the governor’s positions, and her own projects, and tie them back to conservative philosophy.”

“I’ve listened to a lot of politicians’ wives talk about their pet projects,” she writes, “and I’d never heard that before.”

Markowicz details Casey’s many initiatives, including “Mamas for DeSantis, a mobilization effort to target Florida’s moms and grandmas into political action” and the “Cancer Connect Collaborative” which vows to “analyze and rethink the way Florida approaches cancer research, diagnosis, and treatments.”

But her “passion project,” Markowicz writes, is “Hope Florida, which uses the convening power of government to connect private and religious organizations with people in need of help.”

In all, the journalist states, “It’s not the typical first lady fluff projects.”

Casey knows that, once DeSantis formally enters the presidential primary, she will likely face more scrutiny, but, according to Markowicz, she “brushes off the hate.”

Having survived a battle with cancer herself, “perspective is everything” to Casey DeSantis.

“No one is guaranteed tomorrow. I didn’t know if I’d get tomorrow. I’m honest to God happy to be here,” Casey said. “I’m not going to let day-to-day things irk me. I’m so grateful to have another day.”

“I used to just assume everything will be OK,” she said. “It’s not a given that I’ll get to grow old and get to retire. The rest of the stuff just doesn’t matter.”
