Texas AG taking action against children’s hospital over alleged ‘gender transitioning’ procedures

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced on Friday an investigation into potentially “unlawful” so-called “gender transitioning” procedures that the Texas Children’s Hospital may be performing on minors.

“I’ve been clear that any ‘gender transitioning’ procedures that hurt our children constitute child abuse under Texas law,” Paxton said in a statement posted on Twitter.

“Recent reports indicate that Texas Children’s Hospital may be unlawfully performing such procedures, and my office it is working to uncover the truth,” he continued. “I am committed to investigating any entity in our state to ensure that our children are protected.”

“Though many unhinged activists compromising the healthcare field think otherwise, children are not to be treated as science experiments,” Paxton said. “Doctors and hospitals should not be pushing mutilative and irreversible ‘gender transitioning’ procedures that will negatively impact innocent children for the rest of their lives.”

Paxton’s office also issued a Request to Examine (RTE) to Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH), seeking 25 types of documents that must be handed over to the AG’s office by June 19.

Included among the documents are those “related to the policies and procedures of TCH’s use of puberty blockers on Minors in the State of Texas”, “Documents Related to the development, assessment, and reassessment of TCH’s policies and procedures Concerning the use of puberty blockers on minors”, “Documents Related to TCH’s use of puberty blockers on Minors” with and without the consent of a parent, and “Documents sufficient to Identify the length of each counseling session a patient accepted by TCH for Gender Transitioning and Gender Reassignment Procedures and Treatments receives.”

“Provide the shortest, longest, average, and median length,” the RTE instructs TCH.

“The Request to Examine (“RTE”) issued to Texas Children’s Hospital can aid in uncovering additional information to identify if any state laws have been broken,” the statement explains.

The probe comes after a similar investigation into Dell Children’s Medical Center “over unlawful behavior related to ‘gender transitioning’ procedures,” it notes.

The TCH probe follows reporting from Manhattan Institute senior fellow Christopher Rufo, who discovered the hospital “secretly” restarted its “child sex-change program.”

“Last year, Texas Children’s Hospital announced it was stopping ‘gender-affirming care’ on minors,” Rufo reported on Twitter. “But I’ve obtained internal records indicating that TCH secretly restarted its child sex-change program three days later—and has continued it en masse ever since.”

“According to internal records, Dr. Richard Ogden Roberts has managed patients ranging in age from 12 to 17 years old for ‘gender identity’ and ‘gender dysphoria,’ with indications for ‘medication,’ ‘testosterone levels,’ ‘medicine refill,’ and ‘specialty services,'” Rufo revealed. “Despite the hospital’s statement that it had ceased these practices, Roberts has continued to manage a heavy caseload for ‘gender-affirming care,’ including multiple patient visits in a single day last week for ‘gender dysphoria’ and ‘gender identity,’ and another for ‘HRT.'”

Rufo also exposed “Harvard-trained surgeon Kristy Rialon” who allegedly “surgically inserted a ‘drug delivery implant’ on an 11-year-old ‘female-to-male transgender person’ three days after the hospital had announced that it had stopped performing ‘gender-affirming care.'”

“Executives at Texas Children’s appear to be playing a duplicitous game,” Rufo tweeted. “They announced that the hospital had stopped performing ‘gender-affirming care’ on minors. But TCH doctors never stopped. They are performing child sex-change experiments at scale.”

Following Paxton’s investigation announcement, Harris County Attorney Christian D. Menefee called for an investigation into Rufo’s whistleblower source.

“Someone leaked kids’ medical records from a Houston hospital to right wing activists,” Menefee tweeted. “Instead of helping victims, @KenPaxtonTXvis investigating the hospital, pushing phony claims that gender affirming care is child abuse. The leaker must be punished & the kids must be protected.”

“Menefee is running cover for the monsters performing secret sex-change procedures on children,” Rufo replied. “I will never give up my sources—especially those who stand up for kids.”
