Hypocrites of The View demand Feinstein put country first, resign: ‘This is not about ageism or sexism’

The shrews of “The View” extended their talons to savage Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) on Friday, demanding that she put her country first and resign due to her age, deteriorating health, and questionable mental acuity, making it next to impossible to represent her constituents.

The hosts of the show want a younger liberal to take Feinstein’s place. Considering they have previously denounced mental competency tests for Congress, and term limits, defended Senator John Fetterman over his poor mental and physical condition, and defended President Biden’s mental acuity slippage, their demands are hypocritical in the extreme.

Moderator Joy Behar did an overview of the situation before co-host Sunny Hostin piped up, stating, “It’s terrible because she has been such an effective senator for over six decades – or six terms rather, and I think that it’s very difficult for someone to step away from work that they love.”

Hostin then made Republicans out to be evil somehow by not allowing Democrats to substitute someone else to conduct her votes so they could shove through judicial appointees. She painted the GOP as having forced Feinstein to return to work before she was fully healed.

“She’s 89 years old. She says she’s not going to resign. And she did ask the Republican Party – or the Democrats asked the Republican Party to allow her a temporary replacement while she heals. They’ve refused to do that. And so, she’s back at work. And I think she’s not fully healed. I mean, if you look at the pictures of her, it pained me to see the condition that she was in,” Hostin contended.

Feinstein, at 89 years old, is the oldest senator in Congress. She says she will not run for reelection but she’s also refusing to resign. She is being propped up by Nancy Pelosi’s daughter who appears to be guard-dogging her. Pelosi reportedly wants Rep. Adam Schiff to take Feinstein’s place. If she steps down, Governor Gavin Newsom will get to pick her replacement and he has vowed it will be a black female Democrat.

It’s obvious to everyone that sees her that Feinstein is not well. To many, she looks like she has suffered a major stroke. Feinstein is claiming it is complications from shingles including inflammation of the brain (encephalitis) and Ramsay Hunt Syndrome which can potentially harm her hearing and eyesight.

Putting that aside, the hosts of “The View” pulling out the long knives for Feinstein is rich.

Hostin seems to have forgotten that in February she threw a hissy fit over GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley calling for term limits for Congress and for mental acuity tests.

“How dare she say that someone over 75 needs some sort of mental acuity test! I think she needs a mental acuity test!” Hostin screeched. “We’re one of the only countries in the world that don’t value age, don’t value experience.”

Regardless of Hostin’s previous proclamations, she now feels “it’s time for [Feinstein] to put the country before herself.”

“The great philosopher Kenny Rogers once says, ‘You got to know when to fold ’em. You got to know when to walk away,’” co-host Sara Haines quipped. She was one of Fetterman’s strongest defenders during his stint at a hospital for depression.

“And I think that it is not a question of age, which we’ve talked about in the room, although age is important, we talk about that on presidential elections, age is important. But Senator Fetterman is 53, and he had a condition, and people questioned it. And I thought that was fair. You have to look at all of it. And she’s had a bunch of missteps,” Haines asserted.

“They said rarely does your spokesperson have to have a direct contradiction from the person you’re representing says. She didn’t know she was sick. She thought she’d been in a place for three months when she was out,” she pointed out.

“This is not about ageism or sexism, it’s about competence to do your job. And some people eventually have to retire. Pilots have to retire. They’re consequential jobs, and I would argue this is one of them,” Haines stated.

She doesn’t want to wait for a replacement for Feinstein until the next election and made it clear she wants Newsom to appoint someone to her seat.
