There is evidently so much Bud Lite sitting on the shelves these days after the Dylan Mulvaney fiasco that vendors are offering $20 rebates for a $19.98 case of beer and the Anheuser-Busch brand is being torched for it as the company continues to crater in sales.
A photo is floating around on social media showing the unnamed vendor’s rebate and stacks of 24-can cases of Bud Light gathering dust on shelves. The ridicule on Twitter was brutal.
Former heavyweight boxer Ed Latimore wrote, “I’ve been sober for almost a decade, so I’m not sure on this, but ain’t a case like $20 most places? Things can’t be going great if they’re basically giving it away.”
“Buy it for $19.98 a case, get a $20.00 rebate. You’re making two cents profit per case when you buy Bud Light. And there’s still plenty on the shelf. They can’t even give people money to take it off their hands!” Aldous Huxley’s Ghost snarked.

Commentator Ashley St. Clair shared the viral picture of the promotional offer and mocked it, “The Bud Light marketing team must still be all women if they think a coupon will get a man’s attention.”
Podcaster Tim Pool was dumbfounded, “20 bucks for a case of beer that gives you 20 bucks back? Bud light is GIVING AWAY Their beer probably in a desperate bid to make sales look like they are returning.”
While RandMcnally wrote, “Why do they think it was something to do with the price? The level of tone deafness is … well inexplicable.”

Sales of Bud Light have precipitously plummeted after the ill-conceived ad campaign with transgender Dylan Mulavey aired on April 1. The company seems to be approaching the point of no return after a massive nationwide boycott and damage control does not seem to be working. Memorial Day and the summer selling season will tell the tale.
According to the New York Post, “Nationwide retail sales of the brand were down 23.6% versus a year ago in the week ending May 6 — its fifth straight week of declines, according to Bump Williams Consulting and NielsenIQ data.”
Other Anheuser-Busch brands are also reportedly feeling the pain.
“Those included Budweiser, down 9.7% versus an 11.4% drop a week earlier; Michelob Ultra, down 2.9% versus 4.3%; and Natural Light, down 2.5% versus 5.2% the previous week,” the media outlet reported.

Bud Light’s rivals are celebrating as their sales rise. Pabst Blue Ribbon’s sales rose 21.6% in the week ended May 6. That’s up slightly more than the 18.9% spike from the previous week.
Bump Williams and NielsenIQ data shows that Miller High Life shot up 10.4% in sales compared to an 8.3% rise over the same time period the previous week. However, that good news for Miller may not last as a woke ad is circulating that may impact sales as Americans are having less and less tolerance for this nonsense.
Anheuser-Busch claims that the beer can and social media posts were not meant to be “for production or sale to the general public” after Bud Light crawled into bed with Mulvaney. No one is buying that excuse.
CEO Michel Doukeris disavowed the advertisement in an earnings call Thursday, insisting the ad was “not a campaign,” and that an outside agency approved it without getting a green light from Bud Light, according to the Daily Mail.
Meanwhile, Twitter users simply thrashed Bud Light’s alleged “rebate”:
