US Navy deploys drag queen influencer to recruit new sailors

The United States Navy is turning to a drag queen in an effort to appeal to younger people on social media platforms as it seeks to address a serious recruiting shortfall, another example of the “woke” leadership in the armed forces that often seems to be more concerned with cultural indoctrination than the tough job of defending the nation in an increasingly dangerous world.

The drag queen, Yeoman 2nd Class Joshua Kelley, who goes by the stage name of Harpy Daniels was chosen to be the seafaring military branch’s “Navy Digital Ambassador,” one of five who were tabbed for the online outreach initiative that was “designed to explore the digital environment to reach a wide range of potential candidates,” according to a Navy spokesperson.

Kelley announced that he had been tabbed for the honor in a November 2022 social media post detailing how he went from performing on deck to evolving into a “leader” and “advocate” for members of the special demographic who “were oppressed for years in the service,” for the Navy’s program that ran until March 2023.

“The Navy did not compensate YN2 Kelley or any others for being Navy Digital Ambassadors,” a USN spokesperson told the conservative website The Daily Caller.

“To attract the most talented and diverse workforce, the Navy continues to evaluate its compensation package and admission requirements, and how it reaches potential recruits through advertising and career events,” the Navy states in its 2024 budget proposal.

Kelley, who identifies as non-binary, discussed his experiences as a drag queen in the Navy with the USS Constitution Museum in an interview that was published last August.

“I’m an advocate for the LGBTQ+ community and being able to do drag is not just for me, but a tribute to many service members who were kicked out, harassed, bullied, or worse for being openly gay during Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. It shows representation, and that is truly needed for a culture and organization that has shunned us for so long,” he said.

“The biggest impact has been the LGBTQ+ junior sailors who’ve joined because of this, and the amount of opportunities I’ve had to be a voice for the LGBTQ+ community. It’s an honor to be heard and seen, and to now be on a platform to do that for many others is humbling, but very empowering. The amount of support the Navy has given me is spectacular and I can’t wait to continue paving the path for more people to live the legacy of our LGBTQ+ service members, like the ones who’ve paved it for me,”  Kelley added. “My goals as a sailor are to continue working hard, make first (class) and become the first officer in my family. As for drag, I hope to continue performing, building safe spaces for queer individuals, and one day make it on RuPaul’s Drag Race as one of the first active service members.”

“Harpy Daniels” has posted a collection of his videos to social media including the popular Chinese-owned TikTok platform.

“I walked out of my mom doing death drops and splits,” Kelley told NBC News. “In high school, I painted my toenails and tried makeup but was told I couldn’t do it. That’s what society told me. But then I joined the drama club and the color guard.”

Whether the deployment of the active duty male who gets his kicks dressing up as a chick to troll for potential recruits is successful remains to be seen but the reality is that the country is rapidly changing with the CDC finding that one in four high schoolers identify as LGBTQ+ or are confused about their gender, a testament to the effectiveness of years of incessant gay and transgender propaganda that has come to saturate modern American culture.
