Melania Trump finally breaks silence with media-slaying statement

Former first lady Melania Trump broke a weeks-long silence that began with news of former President Donald Trump’s indictment with a page straight out of her husband’s playbook in laying waste to corporate media practices like “unnamed sources.”

Fulfilling the long-awaited dreams of leftists everywhere, the president’s indictment on 34 seemingly redundant counts was treated as a victory despite, or perhaps because of, the blatant political persecution displayed. In the aftermath of the April 4 arraignment, the absence of Melania had been notable and many had speculated that she was distancing herself due to the nature of the case and its relation to an alleged affair with adult film star Stormy Daniels.

However, a statement released Tuesday appeared to put those rumors to rest as the public was warned to mind unscrupulous reports with inaccurate claims. “News organizations have made assumptions about the former First Lady’s stance on subjects that are personal, professional, and political over the past few weeks. In these articles, unnamed sources are cited to bolster the author’s claims.”

The account for the Office of Melania Trump went on to state, “We ask readers to exercise caution and good judgment when determining whether or not stories concerning the former First Lady are accurate, particularly when they fail to cite Mrs. Trump as a source of information.”

The post followed Melania Trump’s first in a month where she had wished her followers a Happy Easter with a close-up image of a flower.

Likewise, the tweet had been preceded by the former first lady’s first public appearance since Trump’s indictment, joining the president for their traditional Easter brunch Sunday at Mar-a-Lago.

When Trump had spoken from the Palm Beach, Florida residence nearly a week earlier following his arraignment, speculation had run rampant over why Melania was not publicly supporting her husband. As previously reported, People magazine had spoken to one of those unnamed sources who said, “They weren’t expecting [the indictment], but Melania will support him. That’s what she does. They are a family.”

Another had told the outlet, “She is aware of who her husband is and keeps her life upbeat with her own family and a few close friends.”

Melania Trump’s warnings over unnamed sources were understandable, not only because of the tendencies of corporate media that earned the moniker “fake news” but because of her own history of being burned by a close confidant who had secretly recorded their conversations.

Her former friend and adviser Stephanie Winston Wolkoff had documented conversations between the pair before later releasing them to the public. In one such recording, the then-first lady had made her feelings over Daniels known when she had discussed a 2018 Vogue photo shoot that featured the woman.

“Annie Leibovitz shot the porn hooker, and [Daniels] will be [in] one of the issues, September or October,” Melania had said at the time.

“What do you mean, she shot the ‘porn hooker?'” Wolkoff had asked, leading the first lady to reply, “Stormy.”

Though the tapes had been used as an effort to tarnish Melania, the public responded positively to the candid comments and many reported they loved her “even more” for them. The latest comments drew a similar positive response.
