Far-left MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell appeared to perform a smidgen of actual journalism Friday by calling out Rep. Adam Schiff to his face.
The call-out occurred during a discussion about Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s indictment against former President Donald Trump.

“Has this criminal allegation, this indictment, already become too political? Donald Trump is raising a fortune — whether a million dollars or a million half or more — just on the threat of the indictment. A large number of politicians are doing that,” she said.
“You’re fund-raising on it,” Mitchell then added, calling out Schiff.
The Democrat lawmaker replied with his usual dose of ‘bullschiff.’
“Look, I think that this is going to be certainly a political issue in terms of defending the rule of law on the one side, [and] in terms of, I think, subverting the rule of law on the other. But the most important point for me is that this is an affirmation of the fact that no one should be above the law, that we all are held to account, that this is someone who has escaped accountability now for years and years,” he initially said.
What does any of that have to do with him raising money off of Trump’s indictment?
“And yes, so I’m going to speak out on it. Other people are going to speak out on it. I’m going to be pushing back against what Kevin McCarthy and Jim Jordan are trying to do in the House by running interference and trying to stop or somehow impede or discredit this investigation. That’s a continuing and important part of the work I’ve been doing to defend our democracy,” he added.
In other words, his fundraising off Trump’s indictment is all about defending “democracy.”

The great irony is the left’s reaction to all this. Instead of chastising Schiff for being so sleazy and partisan, leftists predictably and typically slammed Mitchell for daring to try and hold him accountable for his own bad behavior.
It’s no surprise because, to the average leftist, so-called “journalism” only refers to stories whose narratives match theirs (i.e., Republicans bad, Democrats good). And so to them, real, genuine journalism is something to be disdained.

Why would she ask Adam Schiff those 2 questions? I’ve never heard her ask that question to ANY GQP. She knows this isn’t political for the Democrats- they’re all for following the law; & not one of them are trying to fundraise off of this. She knows who does all the grifting

Notice how some leftist critics wondered why she hadn’t pointed out that Trump is also fundraising off his indictment. But she did point this out.
As a reminder, here’s what Mitchell said: “Has this criminal allegation, this indictment, already become too political? Donald Trump is raising a fortune — whether a million dollars or a million half or more — just on the threat of the indictment. A large number of politicians are doing that.”
It’s as if the leftists didn’t even listen to anything she said. Instead, they instinctively responded with rage like rabid zealots.
Keep in mind that Mitchell has a rich history of carrying water for Schiff.
For example, remember the hubbub that erupted when House Speaker Kevin McCarthy booted Schiff and Rep. Eric Swalwell off the House Intelligence Committee in January? At the time, he defended his decision by pointing to Schiff’s history of lies upon lies upon lies, particularly lies about Trump.
“Those voters elected Schiff even though he lied. Those voters elected Swalwell, even though he lied to the American public, too. So, you know what? I’ll respect his voters, too and they’ll serve on committees, but they will not serve on a place that has national security relevance because integrity matters to me,” he said.
How did Mitchell respond? By falsely claiming Schiff isn’t a liar.
“In a contentious exchange with reporters Tuesday night McCarthy said it was a matter of national security, falsely accusing Schiff of lies about Donald Trump,” she “reported.”
