A Dutch musician and prolific sperm donor named Jonathan Jacob Meijer, who is from the Netherlands and is now living in Kenya, has allegedly fathered over 500 children across the globe and is facing a lawsuit over the potential increased risk of accidental incest for doing so.
“If I had known that he had already fathered more than a hundred children, I would never have chosen this donor,” Eva, a mother who is spearheading the lawsuit, said in a press release. “When I think about the consequences this could have for my child, I get a bad gut feeling and I become uncertain about his future: how many more children will be added?”
“In conversations with the donor, many mothers have indicated that he should stop, but nothing helps,” she recounted. “Going to court is the only way to protect my child.”
A Dutch organization called The DonorKind Foundation defends the rights of donor children. They have filed a lawsuit against the 41-year-old YouTuber and musician claiming that he lied on forms concerning the number of children he has fathered through sperm donations.

He is accused of breaking the law by misleading clinics about the number of children he’s fathered and “endangering” the psychological well-being of his children in addition to the increased risk of incest or inbreeding.
Guidelines have been implemented that limit a person to 25 children or the impregnation of 12 women due to an elevated risk of possible incest issues, according to a press release from DonorKind. One of the mothers involved asserts that Meijer told her he has potentially fathered over 500 children.
Eva chose Meijer as a donor in 2018. When they met he reportedly told her that he would stop donating at the legal limit when he reached it. She has since found out that he reached that limit long ago.
It is believed that the man could have fathered as many as 102 children in the Netherlands alone. That got him blacklisted by officials from any further donations in 2017. He has since moved to Kenya where he allegedly continues to donate to other countries including Denmark and Ukraine.

DonorKind filed the suit on behalf of 25 families. Meijer is accused of using a wide range of pseudonyms in order to donate more and more sperm, according to The Times of London.
“I like to see that there are children of mine all over the world,” Meijer remarked previously, according to the media outlet.
The foundation asserted that Meijer “does not want to stop his behavior” and continues to meet with new parents.
“At the Donorkind Foundation, we think it is important that people realize that they become family in a certain way through donor conception,” DonorKind said in a press release. “This means that both parents and donors take into account the interests and rights of the donor children.”
“Unfortunately, there is no such thing with this man, which means that we as a foundation have to stand up for the interests of the donor children who cannot do this themselves,” the press release announced.
All sperm banks and clinics have been advised by the Dutch Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology to stop using Meijer’s sperm following his 2017 blacklisting. EuroNews reports that he continues to offer his sperm “under the counter.”
“The donor prioritized his urge to reproduce and his conduct poses a threat to the mental and physical well-being of donor children,” Mark de Hek, DonorKind’s attorney stated, according to Fox News.
“We are taking action against this man because the government is doing nothing,” DonorKind Chairman Ties van der Meer told the Telegraph in an interview.
“He has a global reach via the Internet and he does business with large, international sperm banks,” he noted.
