Donald Trump sat down for a Fox News interview with host Sean Hannity and spent part of his time dealing with yet another unforced error — posting an article on Truth Social that included an image of him holding a baseball bat next to a photo of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
The former president lashed out at Bragg on several occasions last week, calling him a “Soros backed animal” in one post, which drew the expected racist accusations. Trump called Bragg a “degenerate psychopath” in another while warning of “potential death & destruction” if he was indicted. But it was the post that included the photo that drew so much heat that Trump would ultimately delete it.
“Bat Hit Crazy,” blared a New York Post headline, with the newspaper saying it “was reminiscent of an infamous scene in the 1987 film “The Untouchables,” in which mob boss Al Capone, played by Robert De Niro, menacingly walks around a banquet table with a baseball bat, before mercilessly beating one of his thugs to death for failing him.”
Hannity asked Trump about the controversy and the former president denied that his “people” posted the inflammatory photo, suggesting that it may have been added to the article he posted “later.”
“Why open yourself up to criticism?” Hannity asked.
“We put up a story that was very exculpatory, very good story from the standpoint of what we’re talking about,” Trump replied. “They put up a picture of me, and you know, where I was holding the baseball bat, it was at the White House. Make America, Buy America. Because I did a lot of Buy America things and this is a company that makes baseball bats.”
“Then they put next to that picture a picture of Alvin Bragg. I didn’t do it, they did it,” he continued. “I guess the people that do the paper or somebody put pictures together. But I was holding the baseball bat in order to promote ‘Made in America’.”

In a follow-up, Hannity asked: “So you did not post the picture of you with a baseball bat in the Oval Office next to the picture of Bragg?”
“I posted a very positive article. And whatever picture they put up, they put up. My people didn’t put up the picture,” Trump responded. “I think the picture maybe was either in the article or was put in the article later.”
