House Republicans reacted strongly to Alvin Bragg after the Manhattan District Attorney who is trying to indict former President Donald J. Trump on ginned-up charges over an alleged “hush money” payment to porn queen Stormy Daniels told them to effectively go pound sand.
On Saturday, members of the House Judiciary Committee led by Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) responded to the George Soros-backed left-wing prosecutor in a scathing eight-page letter, rebuking him for his refusal to testify about his probe, a request that he rejected as being an “unlawful incursion” upon his ongoing witch hunt.
“Your conclusory claim that our constitutional oversight responsibilities will interfere with law enforcement is misplaced and unconvincing,” wrote Jordan along with House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) and Rep. House Administration Committee Chairman Bryan Steil (R-WI) in their letter to the Democrat DA.
The letter notes that Bragg did not address the main issue that he was “under political pressure from left-wing activists and former prosecutors” to bring an indictment against the former president and 2024 GOP frontrunner in a case that was recently resurrected and that he has been “reportedly planning to use an alleged federal campaign finance violation, previously declined by federal prosecutors, as a vehicle to extend the statute of limitations on an otherwise misdemeanor offense and indict for the first time in history a former President of the United States.”
“Moreover, you are apparently attempting to upgrade a misdemeanor charge to a felony using an untested legal theory at the same time when you are simultaneously downgrading felony charges to misdemeanors in a majority of other cases in your jurisdiction,” the letter reads.

“As a threshold matter, whether your office is, in fact, fairly enforcing the law or abusing prosecutorial discretion to engage in a politically motivated indictment of a former President is a serious matter that … implicates significant federal interests,” the House members wrote.
“If charges are brought at the conclusion, it will be because the rule of law and faithful execution of the District Attorney’s duty to require it,” Bragg wrote in his letter, refusing to cooperate. “The Letter’s allegation that the DA’s Office is pursuing a prosecution for political purposes is unfounded, and regardless, the proper forum for such a challenge is the Courts of New York, which are equipped to consider and review such objections.”
The New York City prosecutor also responded to the latest letter from the House Republicans via Twitter on Saturday.

Not only has Bragg refused to cooperate with the legitimate duties of the United States Congress in terms of exercising oversight, but his office staffers have treated the Republican lawmakers with contempt.
Last week, according to one report, a member of Bragg’s staff cussed out a House Judiciary Committee staffer who called his office, at first hanging up on the congressional staffer and then on another attempt to get through, spat venom at the person on the other end of the line.

The New York Post reported that the staffer called and “was promptly hung up on after he identified himself to a woman who answered the phone,” when the call was placed at about noon on Wednesday, citing a tipster familiar with the incident.
“When the staffer called back a second time and identified himself, a second woman bluntly told him, ‘Your committee has no jurisdiction over us. You’re wrong. Stop calling us with this bulls—t,’” the outlet reported.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen any government entity respond to Congress in that manner. It’s quite embarrassing, but I don’t think anyone is surprised based on how partisan that office has become,” the source told the Post.
The Manhattan D.A. Witch Hunt against me is DEAD, no evidence at all, & it has been conclusively proven that I did nothing wrong! The evidence against their “Star” witness, however, is overwhelming. An already disbarred lawyer & convicted Felon, the only question left is will the D.A.s Office sue him for lying & fraud. They should! The SDNY already found him guilty on charges unrelated to “TRUMP,” & wrote a scathing report. He is responsible for time taken away from the D.A. on VIOLENT CRIME!” Trump wrote in a Truth Social missive on Saturday.
