MSNBC commentator compares Trump to ‘an ISIS or al-Qaeda recruiter’ in unhinged analysis

On Friday, a radically far-left MSNBC commentator likened former President Donald Trump’s fierce criticisms of widely panned Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg to “an ISIS or al-Qaeda recruiter radicalizing people.”

Radical leftist Dean Obeidallah offered the stunning comparison during a discussion about the anti-Bragg Truth Social posts Trump has been publishing.

“I have to be blunt. This is akin to an ISIS and al-Qaeda recruiter radicalizing people to commit violence on their behalf. Except Donald Trump is doing it on his behalf. And I’m not over the top by saying that. I’ve talked to extremism experts who’ve made the same analogy to me,” he said.

“And here’s the frightening thing to me: I don’t think GOP leaders are silent because they fear Trump. They’re silent because they agree with Trump — either the violence or they agree with the power that he gives them by being silent. They’re complicit,” he added.

His remarks come amid an escalating number of attacks against Bragg.

In one Truth Social post published early Friday morning, the former president called Bragg a “degenerate psychopath” and warned of “potential death & destruction” if he’s indicted.

“What kind of person can charge another person, in this case a former President of the United States, who got more votes than any sitting President in history, and leading candidate (by far!) for the Republican Party nomination, with a Crime, when it is known by all that NO Crime has been committed, & also known that potential death & destruction in such a false charge could be catastrophic for our Country? Why & who would do such a thing? Only a degenerate psychopath that truely hates the USA!” he wrote.

In another post, Trump reportedly published a side-by-side photo containing an image of him holding a bat on the left side and an image of Bragg’s head on the right side. This particular post has since been deleted.

These posts have triggered massive fear from the media.

“The comments from Mr. Trump, made between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. on his social media site, Truth Social, were a stark escalation in his rhetorical attacks on Mr. Bragg ahead of a likely indictment on charges that Mr. Trump said would be unfounded,” The New York Times lamented.

“The messages have all had echoes of the days leading up to the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol by a pro-Trump mob. Trump had urged his followers to assemble in Washington that day, saying ‘Be there, will be wild!’ as he pushed to stop Congress from certifying Joe Biden’s win,” The Washington Post likewise lamented.

Democrats have also been freaking out when offered the chance. For example, during a press conference on Friday, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries was asked by reporters specifically about the “degenerate psychopath” post.

Jeffries responded by decrying Trump’s posts as “reckless, reprehensible and irresponsible.”

“It’s dangerous. And if he keeps it up, he’s going to get someone killed. We’ve already seen the consequences of incitement from the former president. He is principally responsible on fighting the violent insurrection. That happened on January 6, but clearly, he has not learned his lesson,” he said.

Some say Jeffries has a point given what else also occurred Friday: Bragg’s office “discovered a threatening letter addressed to Mr. Bragg containing white powder — later determined not to be dangerous — in its mailroom,” according to the Times.

According to one of the Times’ sources, the letter inside the envelope read as follows:  “ALVIN: I AM GOING TO KILL YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

This letter reportedly isn’t an anomaly.

“In a memo to staff Friday, Bragg said the office has also been receiving offensive and threatening phone calls and emails. He thanked his staff of nearly 1,600 people for persevering in the face of ‘additional press attention and security around our office’ and said their safety remains the top priority,” the Associated Press reported.

That said, critics say it’s unfair to blame Trump for these threats, particularly the letter. In fact, Trump supporters are 100 percent confident that the letter is a hoax. Some of them even believe Bragg was in on the alleged hoax.
