Elon Musk predicts unintended consequence of potential Trump indictment: ‘Landslide victory’

Billionaire Elon Musk has predicted that if former President Donald Trump is indicted, as has been reported may be happening soon, then he’ll wind up winning the 2024 presidential election “in a landslide.”

“If this happens, Trump will be re-elected in a landslide victory,” the billionaire Twitter owner pithily tweeted Saturday morning.

Look:

Musk offered the prediction in response to a viral Fox News video from Friday showing John Roberts revealing the news about the former president’s potential indictment.

“We are learning that the Manhattan DA’s office has asked for a meeting with law enforcement ahead of a potential Trump indictment. This is coming to Fox News from a source in the courts. The meeting, which was requested yesterday and has not been set yet, is to discuss logistics for sometime next week, which would mean that they are anticipating an indictment next week,” Roberts said in the video.

“The same sources familiar with the planning said they will go over security preparations in and around the courtroom in lower Manhattan. Secret Service will take the lead in what they will allow or will not allow, the source cautioned, mentioning for instance that the decision to handcuff the former president or not. They will set the tone and escort him into the court room. There will be coordination between all of us, the source said, but we will defer to the Secret Service,” he continued.

Roberts’ added that, according to Fox News sources, Trump “will still have to be fingerprinted and processed like every other defendant.”

Watch:

The potential indictment stems from a case about efforts Trump allegedly made during the 2016 presidential election to keep porn star Stormy Daniels quiet about an alleged affair that Trump has denied.

As previously reported, Trump gave his then-attorney, Michael Cohen, $130,000 to allegedly pay off Daniels.

According to ABC News, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is now “mulling whether to charge Trump with falsifying business records, after the Trump Organization allegedly reimbursed Cohen for the payment then logged the reimbursement as a legal expense.”

There’s only one problem. What Trump allegedly did is a misdemeanor at worst. Yet Bragg is reportedly trying to pin a felony on him.

“In New York, falsifying business records can amount to a crime, albeit a misdemeanor. To elevate the crime to a felony charge, Mr. Bragg’s prosecutors must show that Mr. Trump’s ‘intent to defraud’ included an intent to commit or conceal a second crime,” The New York Times explains.

“In this case, that second crime could be a violation of New York State election law. While hush money is not inherently illegal, the prosecutors could argue that the $130,000 payout effectively became an improper donation to Mr. Trump’s campaign, under the theory that because the money silenced Ms. Daniels, it benefited his candidacy.”

It’s unclear whether this strategy will succeed.

What’s known is that Trump is NOT happy about the potential indictment. In fact, he unloaded about it in a Truth Social post published Saturday morning.

“NOW ILLEGAL LEAKS FROM A CORRUPT & HIGHLY POLITICAL MANHATTAN DISTRICT ATTORNEYS OFFICE, WHICH HAS ALLOWED NEW RECORDS TO BE SET IN VIOLENT CRIME & WHOSE LEADER IS FUNDED BY GEORGE SOROS, INDICATE THAT, WITH NO CRIME BEING ABLE TO BE PROVEN, & BASED ON AN OLD & FULLY DEBUNKED (BY NUMEROUS OTHER PROSECUTORS!) FAIRYTALE, THE FAR & AWAY LEADING REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE & FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, WILL BE ARRESTED ON TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK,” he wrote on Truth Social in all caps.

“PROTEST, TAKE OUR NATION BACK!” he added.

His eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., was also displeased by the reports:

Dovetailing back to Musk, he’s not the only one who’s predicted total victory for Trump if he’s indicted. So has Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.

“If the Manhattan DA indicts President Trump, he will ultimately win even bigger than he is already going to win,” she tweeted Saturday morning.

“And those Republicans that stand by and cheer for his persecution or do nothing to stop it will be exposed to the people and will be remembered, scorned, and punished by the base,” she added.
