White House plays ‘widow’ card when James Comer reveals Hallie Biden was recipient of China cash

The Biden administration and its allies in Congress are very unhappy about the latest discovery unearthed by House Oversight Committee chair James Comer as per his investigation into President Joe Biden’s scandalous family.

In a statement issued to various media outlets on Thursday, the day that the latest bombshell dropped, White House spokesperson Ian Sams dismissed the whole investigation as nothing but a waste of time.

He also took a shot at Comer for having recently said on Fox Business Network that the U.S. attorney currently investigating the president’s youngest son, Hunter, should have prosecuted his eldest son, Beau, prior to his death from cancer in 2015.

“After a disgusting attack lamenting that the President’s deceased son Beau was never prosecuted while he was alive, Congressman Comer has now decided to go after Beau’s widow,” Sams said, according to NBC News.

“Instead of bizarrely attacking the President’s family, perhaps House Republicans should focus on working with the President to deliver results for American families on important priorities like lowering costs and strengthening health care,” he added.

He later repeated the attack on Twitter:

As previously reported, on Tuesday, Comer detailed on Fox News how newly obtained financial records show that a previously unheard-of Biden family member accepted part of a $3 million payment from Chinese Communist Party-linked figures shortly after current President Joe Biden’s tenure as vice president ended in 2017.

“There were three different Biden family members that received a cut from that $3 million, including a new Biden family member that’s never before been included in any of these investigations. So, our question is: What exactly did they do to receive that money? What was the purpose of that $3 million wire?” he said.

However, at the time, he abstained from naming the culprit.

Two days later on Thursday, Comer released a memo revealing that the previously unknown Biden family member was Hallie, the widow of the president’s eldest son, Beau. According to the memo, she collected two payments totaling $35,000.

The other two recipients were the president’s brother, James, and the president’s younger son, Hunter. There was also a fourth recipient, but their identity has yet to be uncovered by the House Oversight Committee.

What’s known is that one of Hunter’s business associates was Rob Walker, and on March 1st, 2017, Walker received a $3 million wire from State Energy HK, a Chinese energy company.

“After the Robinson Walker, LLC account received $3 million from State Energy HK Limited, Biden family members and their companies began receiving incremental payments over a period of approximately three months,” the memo reads.

Walker wound up transferring $1,065,692 to them, meaning the Bidens ultimately received one-third of State Energy HK’s payment. But why? What did they do to earn the money? That’s what Comer hopes to uncover.

The Biden administration isn’t the only one upset by this investigation. So are congressional Democrats.

“Chairman Comer’s memo proved once again that, after four years of investigations by Senate and House Republicans into Hunter Biden, they have found no connection to the President of the United States or indeed any government official at all,” House Oversight Committee ranking member Jamie Raskin said in a statement Thursday, as reported by USA Today.

“It must be frustrating to my GOP colleagues to have even Fox News commentators rolling their eyes about this tiresome fishing expedition, but I want to stress that there always remains the possibility of doing serious bipartisan legislative oversight work together,”  he added.

Predictably, Raskin also turned to whataboutism.

“If Chairman Comer is actually concerned about the ‘national security implications of a President’s or Vice President’s immediate family members receiving of dollars from foreign nationals,’ surely he will be a thousand times more interested in investigating the billions of dollars recently paid to Jared Kushner by the Saudi Government,” he said.

All this comes only days after the U.S. Treasury finally started handing over Hunter’s bank records.

“After two months of dragging their feet, the Treasury Department is finally providing us with access to the suspicious activity reports for the Biden family and their associates’ business transactions,” Comer said in a statement Tuesday.

The committee must now review all of the records to see where they lead.
