Whoopi Goldberg inadvertently used the purported Romani slur “gypped” on “The View” while salivating over possible charges being filed against former President Trump on Wednesday and issued a public apology, claiming that her age was to blame for the slip.
Goldberg was almost giddy while discussing a possible indictment of the former president concerning an alleged hush money scandal with porn star Stormy Daniels. In fact, she got so carried away that she forgot to be politically correct and uttered the word, horrifying leftists.
“The people who still believe that he got, you know, gypped somehow, will still believe that he cared enough… about his wife to pay that money from his personal thing. I just don’t understand. If that was the case, then why all the subterfuge? Why is Michael Cohen paying for it?” the co-host asked.
She proceeded to tweet out a 21-second video on the show’s Twitter feed, giving a groveling apology for her presumed faux pas.

“You know when you’re a certain age you use words that you know from when you’re a kid or you remember saying. That’s what I did today, and I shouldn’t have, I should have thought about it a little longer before I said it, but I didn’t. I should have said ‘cheated,’ but I used another word and I’m really, really sorry,” Goldberg stated, causing the nation once again to simultaneously engage in an eye roll.
The word “gypped” has long been in use. It refers to someone cheating or defrauding someone else. It’s now considered derogatory because of its connection to “Gypsies.” Many out there have no idea where the word came from or why Goldberg felt the compulsion to apologize for it.

Goldberg has come under fire for what has been described as “verbose and thoughtless” commentary. She was suspended from “The View” in early 2022 after she claimed the Holocaust was not about race. Despite that, she has doubled down on that premise more than once.
“The Holocaust isn’t about race,” Goldberg asserted during a January 2022 episode of the show. “It’s about man’s inhumanity to man, that’s what it’s about.”
She also apologized for those comments, partially trying to walk them back in December of last year.
“Recently while doing press in London, I was asked about my comments from earlier this year,” Goldberg attempted to clarify. “I tried to convey to the reporter what I had said and why and attempted to recount that time. It was never my intention to appear as if I was doubling down on hurtful comments, especially after talking with and hearing people like rabbis and old and new friends weighing in.”
Not only did Goldberg embarrass herself in front of her fellow leftists over using the word “gypped” on Wednesday’s show, but she also declared she had gas during the segment.
While railing against Trump, she had to pause during her talking points to indicate that she had gas.
“That was gas,” she cringingly stated as her co-hosts and the audience laughed out loud. Many could not discern whether she burped or passed wind on air.
