Lockdown-loving Michigan gov now admits she may have done ‘more than we needed to do’

Coincidence or congressional hearings, some of the worst perpetrators of COVID tyranny have been keen to reimagine their records of late and that included some premium grade gaslighting from Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) that some policies were “a little…more than we needed to do.”

Something like cockroaches when the lights are turned on, the slow walk to confirming the lab leak as more and more data is produced about vaccine injuries has seen many public figures singing new songs about shutting the country down at the pandemic’s three-year anniversary. Dr. Leana Wen implored a reset of trust in public health as Dr. Anthony “The Science™” Fauci sought to redefine what constituted a lab leak and, following their lead, Whitmer simultaneously admitted an overstep as she denied what it was.

Joining CNN’s Chris Wallace for “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?” Whitmer admitted, “There were moments where we, you know, had to make some decisions that in retrospect don’t make a lot of sense, right?”

“If you went into the hardware store, you could go in the hardware store but we didn’t want people, you know, all congregating around the gardening supplies. People said, ‘Oh, she’s outlawed seeds.’ It was February in Michigan,” she claimed. “No one was planting anyway. But, that being said, you know, some of those policies I look back and think…that maybe was a little…more than we needed to do.”

Despite her claim, as BizPacReview had covered at the time, Whitmer’s extended stay-at-home order was issued on April 9, 2020, with an expiration of May 1, infamously prohibiting access to the aisles of stores where seeds would be accessible.

The Federalist had remarked, “Never mind that growing fruits and vegetables at home right now would help maintain social distancing during the pandemic, the governor has spoken and her word is law.”

Others pointed out the time discrepancy as well and noted, even if her claim were true, it didn’t change how free citizens would have behaved.

Tudor Dixon, Whitmer’s GOP gubernatorial rival in 2022, spoke with Fox News Digital and offered her take on what the governor was doing, saying, “Gretchen Whitmer is backpedaling as she plots her political future.”

“She once again attempts to gaslight the people of Michigan into thinking she bears no responsibility for the tyrannical, confusing and cruel lockdown policies she put in place,” Dixon added. “Her heavy-handed decisions crushed businesses, student achievement and livelihoods in our state and none of her lies can hide these horrible but true facts.”

For the time being, Whitmer insisted to Wallace that she is not seeking a challenge to President Joe Biden for the 2024 Democratic nomination, but she did not wholly rule out running for higher office in 2028. As she endeavored to cover for garden tyranny, others were certain to remind the governor that she still had a lot of explaining to do concerning nursing home deaths.
