Former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson says Trump should quit 2024 race ‘out of respect’ IF indicted

In a statement that can only be called “laughably transparent,” a potential GOP contender for the Republican party’s 2024 presidential nomination says Donald Trump needs to bow out of the race should he be indicted in any one of the many liberal-led witch hunts against him.

“It’s out of respect for the institution of the presidency of the United States,” former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson told USA Today in a sit-down interview. “And, that’s a distraction that is difficult to run for the highest office in the land under those circumstances.”

Hutchinson, who appeared Friday on the PBS News Hour to discuss his own potential run for the White House, was opposed to Trump’s third bid to become President and believes the seemingly endless investigations into his conduct just proves that he shouldn’t seek a second term.

“I know he’s going to say that they’re politically motivated and all of those things,” he said, “but the fact is, there’s just a lot of turmoil out there with the number of investigations going on.”

As BizPac Review has often reported, the threat of indictment over one trumped-up charge or another has been hanging over the former President’s head from the moment he left office.

In mid-February, a special grand jury, convened to look at Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in Georgia, vaguely recommended “appropriate indictments.”

“A majority of the Grand Jury believes that perjury may have been committed by one or more witnesses testifying before it. The Grand Jury recommends that the District Attorney seek appropriate indictments for such crimes where the evidence is compelling,” a report written by the jurors stated.

On Thursday, it was reported that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg will criminally indict Trump in a case that involves “hush money” and porn star Stormy Daniels.

Even New York Times correspondent and CNN analyst Maggie Haberman admitted that Bragg’s case “is a misdemeanor that they’re trying to push up to a felony.”

And then there are those documents that were seized during the FBI’s unprecedented raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home.

After the appointment of a special counsel by Attorney General Merrick Garland, salivating liberals were positively giddy over the thought of indictments.

But Hutchinson’s hope that Trump will tuck his tail and step away should any of those investigations result in an actual indictment will likely be dashed.

Prior to delivering his crowd-pleasing CPAC speech, Trump told reporters, “I won’t even think about leaving,” if an indictment occurs. “Probably, it’ll enhance my numbers.”

“When you’re looking at Trump,” Hutchinson, a former federal prosecutor, told USA Today. “It’s going to be a circus.”

“It doesn’t mean that he’s guilty of it or he should be charged,” he continued, “but it’s just such a distraction that would be unnecessary for somebody who’s seeking the highest office in the land.”
