Fox News State Department Correspondent Benjamin Hall sat down with Sean Hannity and gave a harrowing account of the terrifying moment he and his news crew came under a deadly missile attack while covering the Ukraine-Russia war.

The full interview is set to air Friday evening, but Hannity shared a clip on Thursday’s show of Hall, who was severely wounded, talking about the seconds leading up to the attack and what took place afterward — a moving depiction that included a vision of his daughter, which Hall attributes to saving his life.

The attack took place in March 2022, and Hall was covering the war just outside of Kyiv with Fox News photojournalist Pierre Zakrzewski and producer Oleksandra Kuvshynova, who was working with them — Zakrzewski and Kuvshynova did not survive their injuries.

“We slowed slow down at an abandoned checkpoint and out of nowhere, the first missile came,” Hall said in his first television interview since the attack. “Lands about 30 feet in front of us. Immediately, Pierre shouts, ‘Reverse the car, reverse the car!’ There were two Ukrainians driving as well, five of us in the car. The car got stuck, we couldn’t go back.”

Hall explained that just before a second missile hit, Zakrzewski told everyone to get out of the vehicle.

“And that one, I went black,” Hall said. “And I was in a dark place. I couldn’t feel or see. I’d taken some shrapnel in the eye and a matchbox-sized shrapnel in my neck, and I was out, I was out dead. And I saw my daughter out of nowhere, into this blackness. Right in front of me came my daughter, Anna.”

“She said to me, ‘Daddy you’ve got to get out of the car,’” he recounted. “Real as if she was in front of me. Out of nowhere, she came to me. And I came to, and I opened up my eyes and my instinct took me over toward the car door, and I scrambled and I pulled myself out. And I got out of the car, and the third bomb hit the car itself right after that.”

He said the next thing he recalled was waking up.

“I’m on fire. My right leg is gone,” he said. “The foot had gone. Ironically, I didn’t notice it at the time.”

Hall described how horrific his injuries were, then said, “I was lying there and Pierre was still alive at this point. And Pierre immediately said, ‘Don’t move. Russian drones, Russian drones.’ And so, I’m lying there in this barren landscape trying not to move, trying to think of what we can do, looking at my injuries, realizing how badly injured I am.”

After pulling out his cellphone and realizing he had no reception, Hall said he decided to take photos of his injuries before realizing that if he died these would be the last images his family would have of him, He then deleted the photos.

Eventually, a car came by and he waved it down despite warnings from Zakrzewski that it was likely Russians. Realizing how badly he was hurt, it was a risk he felt he had to take.
