Fox News host Tucker Carlson shook the political class to its core on Monday when he aired exclusive video footage of events that took place on January 6, 2021, while charging the House select committee appointed by former Speaker Nancy Pelosi of lying about an insurrection.
The reverberations even included Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., siding against the Fox News host, but no one was more demonstrative in their opposition to the never-before-seen footage continuing to be shown to the American people than Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.
Schumer took to the Senate floor to protect the January 6 insurrection narrative, insisting that Carlson was telling a “bold-faced lie” in saying most protesters were peaceful. The Democrat’s energetic stance included a call for Fox Corp Chairman Rupert Murdoch to stop Carlson from airing additional footage — Speaker Kevin McCarthy R-Calif., granted Carlson access to review more than 40,000 hours of security camera footage from the Capitol Building that was kept hidden from the public for over two years.
The Senate majority leader’s stance apparently drew an invitation to appear on “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” according to a tweet from Schumer — a tweet in which Schumer agreed to appear on ONE condition.
“I was invited on Tucker Carlson’s show. I will agree to go on after Tucker Carlson admits to his viewers live on air that he has been lying to them about the 2020 elections and about what happened on January 6th,” he tweeted.

“A small percentage of them were hooligans,” Carlson said of the protesters on Monday, as he aired some of the video footage. “But the overwhelming majority weren’t. They were peaceful. They were orderly and meek. These were not insurrectionists – they were sightseers.”
Schumer took to the Senate floor to declare Carlson was “lying to his audience.”
“By diving deep into the waters of conspiracy and cherry-picking from thousands of hours of security footage, Mr. Carlson told the bold-faced lie that the Capitol attack, which we all saw with our own eyes, was somehow not an attack at all,” he insisted.
At a press conference, Schumer moved to shut down Carlson altogether, First Amendment be damned, “Rupert Murdoch…has a special obligation to stop Tucker Carlson from going on tonight…from letting him go on again and again and again.”
Today, I was asked by multiple reporters about Tucker’s show last night. I was asked zero times about one of the most powerful figures in government actively promoting censorship of a media figure. The assault on “our Democracy” is this: https://t.co/ezamEniUfe

While the reason may be debatable, someone at Fox News appeared to put the kibosh on Carlson airing any more of the exclusive video from Jan. 6 because he showed no new footage Tuesday night.
Investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson took note of that in a tweet, observing that Carlson appeared to drop the videos and go straight to “reaction.”
I don’t have inside info but Tucker’s program lookeds as if they dropped the Jan. 6 videos they’d planned and promised, moved up the “reaction” segments they were going to do later in the program, and then dropped the topic of Jan. 6 entirely.

As for Schumer appearing on air with Tucker Carlson, he’s not fooling anyone. There’s not a snowball’s chance in hell that the Democrat would dare go toe-to-toe with the Fox News host. To suggest he is scared might be an understatement, given what we know about Schumer. At the same time, it would be a ratings bonanza for both Carlson and his network.
Social media users had another word in mind: “Coward.”

Go on his show and give evidence for your position. Oh wait that’s right Tucker is going to push back with all of the lies you told over your career so you can’t go on. Sorry this isn’t a Maddow interview with softballs

As a U.S. Senator, you called for a journalist to be censored because he exposed your lies about Jan 6. It wasn’t a deadly insurrection. Officer Sicknick wasn’t murdered. Ray Epps lied under oath. No wonder 61% of Americans think Jan 6 was staged by feds. You should be ashamed.

Tucker Carlson posted receipts, where are yours?
