The fate of four Americans abducted in Mexico was confirmed Tuesday after authorities confirmed their whereabouts amid growing calls for U.S. military intervention.
Friday, Latavia “Tay” McGee, Shaeed Woodward, Zindell Brown and Eric James Williams were reportedly kidnapped in Matamoras, Tamaulipas, Mexico, near Brownsville, Texas as the group had ventured over the border seeking a medical procedure. Video had captured the harrowing moments when they had been loaded into the back of a pickup truck and taken away, and Tuesday morning the Associated Press confirmed two of the victims were found dead.
Of the surviving two, one was reported to have suffered unspecified injuries and a convoy had transported them in ambulances and SUVS with a Mexican military, state police and National Guard escort to the border after they had been located “in a rural area east of Matamoras called Ejido Longoreño on the way to an area on the Gulf coast known as ‘Bagdad Beach,'” known as a hotspot for trafficking.
Word of what happened to the kidnapped Americans came as a number of public officials were calling for a military solution to deal with the clear and present danger posed by the Mexican cartels.
Joining Fox News host Jesse Watters on his program Monday night, former attorney general Bill Barr detailed how the number of deaths from fentanyl trafficking alone was equivalent to all the U.S. servicemen who died fighting in WWII.
“The Mexican government is being held hostage by tens of thousands of paramilitary members of terrorist organizations that effectively control Mexico. It’s pretty close at this stage to a failed narco-state. They can use violence and oceans of cash to corrupt the government. The government has no will, and it doesn’t have the ability to deal with the cartels,” he argued.

Meanwhile, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) also likened the cartels, along with violent Antifa members, to terrorists and called for them to be dealt with like terrorists, “What’s the difference between ISIS and Antifa and the Mexican Cartels? Nothing. They are all terrorists and should be treated accordingly.”

As previously reported, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) had joined Watters’ program as well and informed the Fox News host that he would be introducing legislation that would allow the U.S. government to “put Mexico on notice” by doing exactly as Greene and Barr suggested.
“This administration has done nothing about it,” Graham said of the 70- to 100,000 fentanyl deaths. “I’m going to introduce legislation, Jesse, to make certain Mexican drug cartels foreign terrorist organizations under U.S. law and set the stage to use military force if necessary to protect America from being poisoned by things coming out of Mexico.”

“I would tell [the] Mexican government, ‘If you don’t clean up your act, we’re gonna clean it up for you,” the senator added.
Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador confirmed during a press conference Tuesday morning that one suspect was in custody and he went on to state, “Those responsible will be found and they are going to be punished.”
The tenor of his statement was different from his Monday remarks where he had offered a conflicting story about the kidnapping as suggesting the abducted Americans had been part of a “confrontation between groups,” while attempting to buy medicine, “and they were detained.”
At the time of this posting, President Joe Biden had not issued a statement on the reported death of two American citizens in Mexico.
