Eric Swalwell outpaces Nancy Pelosi living a luxurious life with campaign cash: report

Disgraced former House Intelligence Committee Democrat Eric Swalwell’s name is back in the headlines and once again it’s for all the wrong reasons, this time for his use of donor funds for lavish travel and luxury accommodations as the California congressman lived large while ordinary Americans were being crushed by the worst inflation in four decades and declining economic prospects.

According to a Fox News Digital analysis of Federal Election Commission records, Rep. Swalwell’s campaign splurged on travel expenses during the 2022 election cycle, spending a whopping $583,000, even outspending then-Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi who allowed him to retain his seat on the powerful committee even after news broke that he had canoodled with a Chinese spy, besting his former boss who only spent $434,000 according to the conservative news outlet’s review of her records.

While Americans were struggling to make ends meet amidst skyrocketing food and energy costs, Swalwell’s campaign lived large with the one notable travel expenditure being $20,240 to the posh Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay, which according to the property’s website is a scenic “Forbes Five-Star blufftop resort overlooking the ocean,” where the congressman’s wife worked as the sales director until 2019, according to her LinkedIn profile, Fox News reported.

Swalwell has built a reputation for his spendthrift ways and the reported use of donor funds on partying, limos, yachts and exclusive hotels both domestically and internationally, shamelessly reaping the rewards of his privileged position as a Washington, D.C. swamp creature at a time when people he represents in California’s 14th Congressional District have been forced to cut back on their own spending to offset the inflation that has marked the dismal tenure of President Joe Biden.

In another eye-popping disclosure regarding Swalwell’s profligate spending, his committee “burned through thousands of dollars in Paris, France, including $1,800 early last May at the five-star Hotel La Maison Champs-Elysées, where nightly rooms run from around $1,000 to $1,200 per night,” Fox News reported.

“The Maison Champs-Elysées in the heart of Paris’ “Golden Triangle” is an elegant marriage of contemporary lines and unobtrusive luxury. This very special non-conformist 5-star hotel teases our expectations, with theatrical elements, a subtle and relaxed atmosphere,” according to the description on the hotel’s website.

Only weeks later, the campaign reported hundreds of dollars in expenses at the exclusive Le Cafe Marly, which bills itself as “A unique and iconic place strongly linked to culture and luxury, Café Marly embodies the soul of Beaumarly. In the heart of the Tuileries, under the arcades of the Louvre, it is the perfect meeting of a Parisian brasserie and a literary café where you can relax on the terrace while enjoying the view of the pyramid. Inside, just as majestic, you can sit down to admire the classified woodwork, the view of the museum’s sculpture rooms and enjoy this exceptional setting… Café Marly is one of the most beautiful secrets in Paris and also one of the best kept!”

Le Cafe Marly’s menu includes fare from “from Homemade Ginger Carrot Juice for $12 to Oscietre Imperial Caviar with two shots of Beluga for $120.”

Around the same timeframe, Swalwell’s campaign also reportedly spent $3,538.94 at the “iconic” Ritz Paris, described on its website as “Inspired by the splendour of the Château de Versailles, this is perhaps the world’s most comfortable Historic Monument. Lovers of both French history and ‘l’art de vivre’ will appreciate the accuracy and beauty of our tributes to the Royal Court of the Sun King.” the property features a number of upscale bars and reservation rooms.

According to Fox News Digital’s analysis of the FEC records, “Swalwell’s committee, which went through much of the 2022 election cycle with just two paid staffers, added thousands more at luxury hotels in other prime vacation spots, including $4,708 at Loews Miami Beach, where rooms cost customers between $400 for city room views and $3,700 for the presidential suite, according to its website.”

Not only did Swalwell’s committee reportedly expend hundreds of thousands on travel and accommodations, but it also spent cash on chartering yachts and for childcare with $28,646 doled out to Just Dreaming Yacht Charters, “a San Francisco agency that offers “relaxing and luxurious” private yachts for up to 40 passengers,” the outlet reported, also tapping campaign coffers for “$131,000 in childcare expenses, including $2,142 at a Maryland location of Let Mommy Sleep, which offers overnight postpartum care for newborn babies.”

The Swalwell campaign declined to respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment on the expenditures.
