McCarthy gives Tucker Carlson exclusive access of Jan. 6 tapes amid rumors of broken promises: report

Twitter is on fire following word that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) may be breaking his promise to release 14,000 hours of video footage from the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the Capitol building.

The fury began with a tweet from controversial independent journalist Laura Loomer — who may have missed a report that the GOP leader was giving Fox News host Tucker Carlson “exclusive access” to the footage.

“I’ve been told @SpeakerMcCarthy isn’t planning to release all of the J6 footage like he promised,” she wrote. “He told members of Congress that it’s a ‘national security risk’ to release the raw footage. J6 defendants who want it have to ask their rep to issue a written request on their behalf.”

“I always knew @SpeakerMcCarthy was a lying POS,” Loomer fumed in a separate tweet. “I always knew he would never publicly release the footage for EVERYONE to see. He’s an enemy to all J6ers which is why I wrote and produced this national TV ad for ALF months before the Speaker vote.”

“I called it!” she claimed. “Kevin McLIAR!”

As BizPac Review reported in January, McCarthy received widespread praise when he told members of the press, “I think the public should see what happened on that day. I watched what Nancy Pelosi did, where she politicized it. … I think the American public should actually see what happened instead of a report that’s written for a political basis.”

If Loomer is correct, it’s taken the speaker just over one month to break that promise.

The rumor sparked a Twitter spat between Loomer and McCarthy supporter, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.).

“There are grifters and liars that our base believe. Unfortunately,” Greene tweeted on Sunday. “These people always claim to know ‘the truth’ and have ‘sources’ but always mislead people and grift for donations.”

“Can’t wait for the real news tomorrow,” the outspoken lawmaker teased. “I love being right.”

“This is rather Ironic coming from you,” Loomer shot back. “You campaigned on America First, claimed to be anti establishment, then you turned around & stumped for Kevin McCarthy who said the police officer who murdered Ashli Babbitt was ‘doing his job’.”

But it appears Loomer may indeed end up with egg all over her indignant face.

In an exclusive report citing McCarthy sources, Axios reported on Monday that the Speaker handed over 41,000 hours of Capitol surveillance footage from Jan. 6 to none other than Fox News’s Tucker Carlson.

“The process with Carlson started in early February, according to a communication between the show and a McCarthy representative that I was shown,” Axios author Mike Allen reports.

If accurate, there are going to be a whole lot of people eating crow in Elon Musk’s birdhouse, starting with the popular Twitter account, Catturd, who declared on Sunday, “I warned you about Kevin McCarthy.”

With the report from Axios, folks are now popping popcorn and changing their tune.

“[T]here was never any legitimate reason for this footage to remain secret,” Carlson told Allen. “If there was ever a question that’s in the public’s interest to know, it’s what actually happened on January 6. By definition, this video will reveal it. It’s impossible for me to understand why any honest person would be bothered by that.”
