There is little reason to believe that the violent crime wave that has plagued New York City is going to subside in the near future and citizens can blame Manhattan Attorney General Alvin Bragg, a notorious coddler of criminals who has struck again.
A reputed gangbanger who got what was described as a “sweetheart deal” from Bragg’s office when he was let off with what effectively amounted to a slap on the wrist for a series of robberies last year is back in trouble after the pistol-packing thug allegedly mugged a 14-year-old boy at a local playground.
Charles Lindsay’s latest run-in with the law was first reported by the New York Post which noted that Bragg’s office “refused to say Friday whether it will try to nix the previous sweetheart deal it made with the suspect.”
The “sweetheart deal” referred to was that instead of being faced with serious time for his alleged role in the heists of $25,000 in handbags and luxury items from Madison Avenue boutiques resulting in four felony counts, Lindsay was allowed to remain on the streets if he attended five sessions with Manhattan Justice Opportunities, a program that according to its website, “helps build a more effective and restorative justice system by providing comprehensive services as alternatives to traditional responses to crime.”
Thanks to Bragg, the 22-year-old Lindsay, who is an alleged member of the “Rich Fam” gang connected to the handbag thefts as well as a suspect in the rape of a 15-year-old girl in Brooklyn last year, was allowed to continue his budding criminal career under the excuse that the prosecutors in the DA’s office needed to clear its “packed” calendar due to a heavy caseload, a source told the New York Post.
Lindsay’s impressive rap sheet included at least eight other arrests, including robbery, at the time.
“That’s a heck of a deal,” said former Bronx prosecutor Michael Discioarro. “This guy should play the lottery.”

Despite his get-out-of-jail-free card courtesy of Bragg, the young thug was unable to resist getting into more trouble and on January 24, Lindsay along with three others allegedly descended on the 14-year-old in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood, punched him in the face and made off with his money and iPhone, according to a criminal complaint.
Identified as a suspect in the mugging, police who recognized him from a photo spotted him in St. Andrew’s Park on February 15 where Lindsay fled officers, dropping a loaded gun in the process as he jumped the fence, according to law enforcement sources cited by the New York Post.
He then ran into a subway station, “hopped onto the tracks and fled on foot into the tunnel. Police were waiting for him at the next stop at the Utica and Fulton, and he was cuffed,” the outlet reported.
The suspect was arraigned on Thursday on weapons charges and held on $100,000 at the request of the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office.
A representative for Bragg’s office “refused to answer questions about Lindsay’s earlier plea deal and whether the new charges would revive the grand-larceny cases against him,” according to the Post.
At the time of his arrest, Lindsay had not yet attended a single session with the diversion program, the key condition of the “sweetheart deal” that kept him out of jail.
“We cannot comment given that it is an open and pending matter,” said the spokesman for the Manhattan District Attorney’s office.
