Jim Jordan poised to roll out new legislation following House Judiciary probes

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan’s (R-Ohio) investigations are far from the show trials witnessed under Democratic control as an insider teased at “thoughtful legislation” on the horizon.

Well before the 118th Congress had commenced, Republicans had promised accountability would be their mandate with a majority in the lower chamber. Since wresting control from their progressive counterparts, the Jordan-led Judiciary Committee, in addition to others like the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, have already set forth to fulfill the promise to expose abuses of power committed by the FBI and DOJ, collusion and censorship against conservatives at the hands of Big Tech, and dereliction of duty that has only worsened the crisis at the southern border.

In speaking with Fox News Digital, a senior GOP aide confirmed that these investigations were only the jumping-off point to correct inherent problems as the individual told the outlet, “Americans can be confident that after these investigations, Chairman Jordan will introduce thoughtful legislation to fix the problems regular Americans see on a daily basis.”

The Judiciary chair had previously called out President Joe Biden’s administration’s efforts to stonewall meaningful investigations as document requests went ignored, leading to a response from the DOJ’s Office of Legislative Affairs (OLA) only heightening the alleged obstruction by dictating to whom Jordan should or should not address those requests and asserting they would determine who would be considered as witnesses for testimony.

Undeterred, the Ohio lawmaker has issued subpoenas of high-ranking officials in each of the investigations including Attorney General Merrick Garland, FBI Director Christopher Wray, and Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona regarding the Justice Department’s alleged “misuse of federal criminal and counterterrorism resources” in targeting concerned parents attending school board meetings.

Jordan is “very committed to shining a light on DOJ and FBI abuses that have been brought before his office by various whistleblowers,” the aide explained to Fox News Digital.

The congressman has also maintained the necessity of protecting those whistleblowers as Democrats have tried to expose the dozens who have come forward to highlight the federal government’s targeting of conservatives.

During a recent Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government hearing, as freshman Democratic Rep. Dan Goldman (NY) tried to get transcribed notes between the GOP and whistleblowers turned over, Jordan remained adamant that no such accommodation would be made until the individuals had their chance to testify.

The Judiciary Committee has also led the charge on exposing the failings of the Department of Homeland Security and Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas in securing the southern border where record numbers of illegals have continued to enter along with drug traffickers importing deadly fentanyl.

Additional subpoenas were issued for the investigation into Big Tech’s collusion with federal government agencies to suppress the spread of certain stories and silence conservative voices. Those included CEOs Tim Cook (Apple), Sundar Pichai (Google/Alphabet), Satya Nadella (Microsoft), Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook/Meta), and Andy Jassy (Amazon).

A statement issued by Jordan’s office read, “Congress has an important role in protecting and advancing fundamental free speech principles, including by examining how private actors coordinate with the government to suppress First Amendment-protected speech. These subpoenas are the first step in holding Big Tech accountable.”

In response, a Microsoft spokesperson told Fox News Digital they “have started producing documents, are engaged with the Committee, and committed to working in good faith.”

Meanwhile, a Meta spokesperson said the company has “already begun producing documents in response to the committee’s requests and will continue to do so moving forward.”
