‘No, f*** them’: Songwriter goes after Nikki Haley for using famous tune to announce

Frankie Sullivan, guitarist for Survivor and co-writer of “Eye of the Tiger” has had it with politicians trying to use his jam for their campaigns.

After two successful cease-and-desist cases against Mike Huckabee and Newt Gingrich, Sullivan is setting his sights on former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley who walked out on stage to the song to announce her 2024 presidential bid.

“I would never let a f*****g politician use that song because entertainment and politics don’t mix,” Sullivan told Daily Mail, explaining that this rule isn’t just for Republicans, but any politician. He insists that if they want to use music for their campaigns, they should just write it themselves.

“No, f*** them. Write their own [songs]. Half of them don’t know what the hell to do, why don’t they try writing songs? They’ll probably be lousy songs but they won’t be any lousier than the way they run everything else,” he snarked.

On Wednesday, he says he was bombarded with messages. Sullivan said he would like to get the footage of the rally where the song was used taken down, but he recognizes that it would be very difficult. “Get it down. I don’t want it up there. It’s up on YouTube. I didn’t look but I know. I’m sure it is.”

Ultimately, Sullivan says, the song will forever belong to the wildly successful “Rocky” films.

“They don’t belong going anywhere near Eye of the Tiger,” he huffed. “That song stays with the Rocky franchise.”

Sullivan also had to get after former President Donald Trump for using the tune as well and described Trump as “very affable” in his response.

But Trump likely hasn’t felt very affable lately, especially after hearing that former ally Haley has decided to oppose his run for the Republican presidential nomination. In true Trump fashion, the former commander-in-chief took to Truth Social Wednesday to mock Nikki Haley’s early polling numbers and remind her of past statements.

“Nikki Haley had a hard time making the decision to run for President because she very publicly stated that she ‘would never run against the President. He did a GREAT JOB, and was the best President in my lifetime,'” Trump posted. “I told Nikki to follow her heart, not her ambition or belief. Who knows, stranger things have happened. She’s polling at 1%, not a bad start!!!”

Later in the day, he posted again saying the “greatest thing” Haley had ever done for the United States was taking the ambassadorship position so Henry McMaster could take over the South Carolina governorship. He called her appointment “a favor to the people I love in South Carolina.”

“The greatest thing Nikki Haley did for our Country, and the Great State of South Carolina, was accepting the position of United Nations Ambassador so that the incredible then Lieutenant Governor, Henry McMaster, could be Governor of South Carolina, where he has done an absolutely fantastic job. That was a big reason why I appointed Nikki to the position—It was a favor to the people I love in South Carolina!
