US Air Force General Glen VanHerck, the commander who oversees North American airspace, refused to rule out UFOs when asked about objects shot down after violating North American airspace over the last week, claiming he hasn’t ruled anything out yet.

The general made his comments following the shooting down of an unidentified hexagonal object over Lake Huron in Michigan on Sunday, a cylindrical one over Canada on Saturday, and another the size of a car over Alaska on Friday. Those actions came after the military let a Chinese spy balloon traverse the country, eventually shooting it down off the east coast and causing many to contend it was the Chinese and not aliens at play.
He was asked by a reporter if the US military had ruled out UFOs as the unidentified objects, replying, “I’ll let the intel community and the counterintelligence community figure that out. I haven’t ruled out anything.”
“At this point, we continue to assess every threat or potential threat, unknown, that approaches North America with an attempt to identify it,” VanHerck asserted.
The Chinese balloon and the other much smaller objects were taken down by missiles.

The mystery object over Lake Huron had strings hanging off it but carried no payload. It was shot out of the sky with an AIM9x missile 20,000 feet above Lake Huron. The military has not recovered the object yet.
“No indication of aliens or extraterrestrial activity with these recent takedowns,” an anonymous defense official later told Reuters.
VanHerck claims that officials are confident that at least two of the objects were not balloons.
“I’m not going to categorize them as balloons. We’re calling them objects for a reason,” VanHerck stated, according to CNN. “I’m not able to categorize how they stay aloft. It could be a gaseous type of balloon inside a structure or it could be some type of a propulsion system. But clearly, they’re — they’re able to stay aloft.”
The object has been downed by pilots from the US Air Force and National Guard. Great work by all who carried out this mission both in the air and back at headquarters. We’re all interested in exactly what this object was and it’s purpose. 1/ https://t.co/LsjwtjntCv

VanHerck stressed that officials do not know the country of origin of the objects that have been downed in recent days, distinguishing them from the Chinese surveillance balloon that the US military shot down off the coast of South Carolina last week.
“I would be hesitant and urge you not to attribute it to any specific country. We don’t know,” VanHerck contended.
The general noted that they had considered attempting to use the fighter jet’s machine guns to shoot down the objects so that the objects would be better preserved.
WOW! From Pentagon briefing just now:
“I believe this is the first time within United States of America airspace that NORAD or United States Northern Command has taken kinentic action against an airborne object.”

“We assessed taking a gunshot yesterday in that event, as well as today, and the pilots in each situation felt that that was really unachievable because of the size, especially yesterday in the altitude, and also because of the challenge to acquire it visually because it’s so small,” VanHerck asserted.
“We have taken extreme caution to ensure that we limit potential collateral damage, so today, we worked closely with the FAA to clear out the airspace,” he continued. “I gave direction specifically to the pilots to use their visual acuity to check for mariners on the ground, airplanes in the air to clear with their radars as well. And when they were comfortable, that we can minimize collateral damage, they selected the best weapon today that was the AIM 9x (missile). And they took the shot.”
