In a brazen attempt to once again deflect from the sordid Hunter Biden laptop story, Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-Fla.) made a point of asking ex-Twitter executive Anika Collier Navaroli about a vulgar tweet sent by model Chrissy Teigen that former President Trump requested be removed by the social media platform.

Trump’s original tweet that engendered Teigen’s response read, “Guys like boring musician @johnlegend, and his filthy mouthed wife, are talking now about how great it is—but I didn’t see them around when we needed help getting it passed.”
Teigen responded, “lol what a p*ssy ass b*tch. tagged everyone but me. an honor, mister president.”
Frost was obviously attempting to smear Trump and intimate that he didn’t care about free speech while making the suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story less egregious. He purportedly made a point of getting Teigen’s “p*ssy ass b*tch” response entered into the Congressional Record just to further denigrate the former president.
To achieve that goal, he questioned Navaroli about the slur on Wednesday in front of the House Oversight Committee. The Trump White House reportedly reached out to Twitter in 2019 requesting that the insult to a sitting president be removed from the platform.

“Ms. Navaroli, earlier you testified about a 2019 tweet that was about President Trump. And I think it was from Ms. Teigen. What was the tweet about?” Frost asked the former Twitter executive.
“Would you like me to give the direct quote?” Navaroli responded and Frost responded that he would.
“Please excuse my language. This is a direct quote, but, Chrissy Teigen referred to Donald Trump as a ‘p*ssy ass b*tch,'” she replied.
Frost then attempted to be clever, trying to use the constitutional right of free speech to bludgeon Trump. He did so unsuccessfully.
“Ok. Free speech. And what happened after Ms. Teigen posted her tweet? What did the White House do? What did the Trump White House do?” he asked setting the table for another run at denigrating Trump.
“From my understanding, the White House reached out to ask that this tweet be removed. It was my team’s job. This fell underneath the policy for abusive behaviors, and we evaluated it underneath our insults policy. At the time, up to three insults were allowed,” she responded.
Frost would go on to comment, “The reality is that culture changes and adopts and welcomes more people. It becomes more understanding and it also decides to reassess what’s acceptable behavior and rhetoric. In this supposed culture war, they often conflate the right to free speech with the non-existent right to not be criticized or held accountable for what you say on the Internet or even real life.”
Frost is not the only Democrat to charge Trump with censorship over trying to have that particular tweet taken down. Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.) also brought it up during the hearing that was intended to expose Twitter for censoring the Hunter Biden Laptop story. Democrats attempted to pull a “you did it too” maneuver by implicating Trump.

“My, my, my. What happens when you hold a hearing, and you can’t prove your point?” Connolly viciously and theatrically stated at the beginning of his allotted time.
“On September 8th, 2019, at 11:11 pm, Donald Trump heckled two celebrities on Twitter, John Legend and his wife, Chrissy Teigen, and referred to them as the musician John Legend and his filthy mouth wife and quote, mistakenly responded to that email at 12:17 am,” Connolly recounted. “And according to notes from a conversation with you, Mr. Overall, his counsel, your counsel, the White House, almost immediately thereafter contacted Twitter to demand the tweet be taken down. Is that accurate?” Connolly asked Yoel Roth, the former head of safety and integrity, who confirmed the assertion.
“My, my, my. Do you ever think it’s appropriate for the president of the United States to direct or otherwise influence a social media company to take down its content?” Connolly sneered.
Upon hearing that her vulgar words were immortalized in the Congressional Record, Teigen, responded, “I…oh my god.”
