AOC runs cover for ‘Hunter Biden’s half-fake laptop story’ in shameless hearing rant

A House Judiciary Committee hearing into Twitter’s censorship of the New York Post’s reporting on Hunter Biden’s laptop went off the rails Wednesday thanks to Democrat shenanigans.

Take the Democrat shenanigans of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who came to the hearing equipped with her usual shameless distortions of the truth.

Instead of accepting the now-confirmed fact that Hunter Biden’s laptop is real and that  coverage of it was censored by Twitter, she used the hearing to weave a fraudulent narrative about how the whole story is somehow “half-fake.”

Indeed, to hear the congresswoman tell it, the story was practically manufactured out of thin air as part of some “right-wing political operation.”

“So they’ve dragged a social media platform here in Congress. They’re weaponizing the use of this committee so that they can do it again. A whole hearing, about a 24-hour hiccup in a right-wing political operation. That is why we are here right now. And it is — it’s just an abuse of public resources and abuse of public time,” she said.

“We could be talking about health care, we could be talking about bringing down the cost of prescription drugs, we could be talking about abortion rights, civil rights, voting rights, but instead we’re talking about Hunter Biden’s half-fake laptop story. I mean, this is an embarrassment,” she added.

Listen:

The BS talking points later prompted a clap back from the editorial board of the New York Post, which slammed her for spreading her own brand of “disinformation.”

“For someone who claims to be an opponent of ‘disinformation,’ you sure shovel enough horse manure to fill an MSNBC studio,” the board bluntly wrote.

Ouch.

“There was nothing false about any of this. It just made Joe Biden look bad. So Democratic intelligence officials worked in concert with a social-media company to suppress a piece of true journalism before a presidential election. And Twitter still refuses to reveal who pressured it and how, with former officials hiding behind a lot of ‘don’t recalls’ at Wednesday’s hearings,” the board continued.

“Something tells us if an Elon Musk-owned Twitter blocked a story about a Republican, AOC would lose her mind. Instead what we witnessed on Wednesday was a coordinated bit of gaslighting — social media figures shrugging off questions with vague answers and Democrats on the committee yelling about how this wasn’t a scandal. That’s what we’re livid about. And guess what: Americans are, too,” they concluded.

Later during the hearing, Judiciary Committee chair Rep. Jim Jordan was mocked by Democrats after he sought to question Twitter’s former Global Head of Trust & Safety, Yoel Roth, about an email Twitter received from the FBI a day before the Post published the Hunter Biden story in October of 2020.

In the email, FBI special agent Elvis Chan gave Roth a “head’s up” about potential “malign foreign interference” vis-a-vis attempts by other nations to interfere in U.S. elections.

During Wednesday’s hearing, Yoth claimed the “head’s up” wasn’t related to the Hunter Biden story, which is weird since Twitter did immediately censor the story the moment it dropped the following day.

“Did the story violate your policies?” Jordan asked Roth at one point.

“In my judgment at the time, no it did not,” Roth responded.

So why did Twitter censor the story?

“Yeah, that’s what you said, ‘It isn’t clearly a violation of our hacked materials policy, nor is it clearly a violation of anything else.’ So I think what a lot of people are wondering is, if it didn’t violate your policies, and they didn’t tell you it was fake, didn’t tell you it was hacked, why did you take it down?” Jordan asked.

Listen:

Instead of pondering the same valid question, Rep. Gerry Connolly decided to follow Ocasio-Cortez’s lead and also pull his own Democrat shenanigans during the hearing.

“My, my, my, what happens when you hold a hearing and you can’t prove your point,” he immediately barked after Jordan was done speaking.

He then accused Republicans of being the ones hellbent on censoring the truth on social media.

“There’s plenty of evidence Donald J. Trump tried to do that. And if we’re gonna have a hearing about the misuse of social media and the intrusion of government in the content on social media, we’ve got an environment-rich target. But it’s not Joe Biden. It’s Donald J. Trump,” he said.

As proof, he cited the Trump White House’s documented attempt in 2019 to convince Twitter to delete a nasty tweet from leftist celebrity Chrissy Teigen in which she’d called then-President Donald Trump a “p—y ass b–ch.”

Listen:

And so based on this single instance of Trump acting like Trump, the entire Hunter Biden laptop story means nothing, or so Democrats now appear to be arguing …
