If past is prologue then expectations should remain limited that network TV will report anything negative from the upcoming House committee hearings on Hunter Biden’s laptop as a new study left Media Research Center (MRC) president Brent Bozell stating it is “beyond disgusting that” those outlets “have the word news next to their names…”
Even before the 2020 presidential election, there was a blatant aversion to conducting coverage painting Democrats and their allies in a negative light. Since then, especially when it comes to suspected evidence on the laptop showing President Joe Biden may have been involved in influence peddling, the active aversion has been both damning and damaging.
Speaking with Fox News Digital ahead of Wednesday’s House Oversight and Accountability Committee hearing where former Twitter executives will testify about the roles their company and they played in suppressing the laptop story, Bozell anticipated ABC, CBS and NBC will do their best to avoid meaningful coverage.
“They do not want the public to know about the Biden family. I find it beyond horrifying and beyond disgusting that NBC, ABC, CBS have the word news next to their names because there’s nothing newsworthy about the product that they’re delivering,” the MRC founder said.
As recently as last week when the New York Post reported that the younger Biden’s lawyers had seemingly admitted that laptop was his, only NBC covered the story on air as an “aggressive new legal strategy” for the scandal plagued first son while the other two dismissed it outright.
Bozell reminded that after the 2020 election, MRC had conducted a poll with McLaughlin & Associates that showed 36 percent of voters who cast a ballot for Biden were unaware of any connection between him and his son’s foreign business dealings, and 13 percent of those voters, 4.6 percent of his overall take, would have changed their vote had they been aware.
That change would have been enough to swing the election in favor of then-President Donald Trump.
“That’s a deliberate decision not to report news. What we’re seeing now is a continuation of what we saw during the campaign cycle where, and the post-election survey showed it, that the media did not report the Hunter Biden story to its audience,” Bozell said. “And as a result, Democrats who watched…NBC, CBS, ABC, who went to the polls didn’t know about the Biden story.”
Other notable reports about the Biden family that the trio of networks failed to cover were related to the current classified document scandal as they ignored Hunter’s use of the president’s Wilmington, Delaware residence as a home office and that he would have had access to the garage where documents had been located.
“At the end of the day, there’s not much difference… this scandal, it might be ABC that gave it lip service. That scandal, might be CBS that did a story. The other scandal, NBC disappeared — at the end of the day, it’s the same thing…when you’ve got these stories that are goose egg, goose egg, goose egg, goose egg, the fact that one network did one story on this scandal doesn’t change anything.”
“This is the left-wing media, as a whole, not wanting to rock the boat where the Biden administration is concerned while they did everything in their power to capsize the boat when Donald Trump was president,” he went on.
Oversight Committee chairman Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) said ahead of Wednesday, “Americans deserve answers about this attack on the First Amendment,” meaning censorship and suppression of the laptop story in particular, “and why Big Tech and the Swamp colluded to censor this information about the Biden family selling access for profit,” he said, adding, “Accountability is coming.”
However, Bozell anticipated the three networks won’t be covering the salient points and said, “I will absolutely guarantee you that most, at best, will give lip service. What you have got here in this laptop, is not just Hunter Biden — as corrupt as he could possibly be. You’ve got his father’s name all over this, all over documents that are aligning him with China with these deals that are being made. Joe Biden’s name is all over these documents. If it were a Republican, it would be breaking news.”
