Ted Cruz says Biden didn’t have ‘guts’ to down CCP spy balloon if not seen by public and Xi ‘damn well’ knows it

The national security threat of the Chinese spy balloon was brought to an end after President Joe Biden finally gave the order to shoot it down on Saturday afternoon but his bizarre hesitation to do so only after it had crossed the country has invited more criticism of his leadership.

Senator Ted Cruz took to Twitter after the communist aerial vehicle was  blown out of the sky off the coast of South Carolina to express his approval that the surveillance balloon was shot down and also to criticize Biden who he suggested would have lacked the guts to act decisively if it hadn’t been spotted by the public  and that Chinese President Xi Jinping knows it.

“Good. Absolutely the right thing to do,” the Texas Republican tweeted. “But Biden should have done it BEFORE the Chinese spy balloon went across the entire country.”

“And Xi knows damn well that Biden wouldn’t have had the guts to shoot down the CCP balloon if people in Montana hadn’t taken pictures of it,” Cruz said.

Biden’s inexplicably belated decision to wait until the balloon had traversed half of the country and possibly transmitted the intelligence data that it collected to Beijing to order the shootdown has drawn harsh criticism from many including Cruz’s colleague Senator Eric Schmitt.

“The Chinese spy balloon was in US airspace for a week. It hovered over nuclear silos and Air Force Bases. In addition to intel gathering China was testing Biden on response time, decision making & he failed miserably,” tweeted the Missouri Republican whose state was crossed by the surveillance dirigible.  “Full investigation needed. The American people deserve answers.”

Missouri’s other Senator, Republican Josh Hawley kept it short and sweet.

“Debacle,” he tweeted along with footage of military fighter jets intercepting the Chinese balloon.

“The balloon should have been shot down before it crossed the continental United States, not after. We still don’t know what information was collected and where it was sent. This was a dereliction of Biden’s duty, and let’s hope the American people don’t pay a price,” said Republican Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina.

“The Biden admin allowed the Chinese Spy Balloon to traverse the entire US and gather intel on our critical military infrastructure while the entire country screamed to shoot it down, before they finally shot it down,” tweeted GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia. “Biden refused to stop China.”

Other reactions from the Twittersphere.

Rep. Mike Ezell wh0 sits on the House Committee on Homeland Security said it’s a joke that Biden allowed the balloon to cross half of the country before acting.

“President Biden’s decision to allow this Chinese spy balloon to peacefully float across the United States, especially near major military bases, is a joke. We cannot continue to demonstrate weakness in the face of Chinese aggression. America must make every effort to remove the balloon from our air space as soon as it can be safely done,” the Mississippi Republican told Fox News Digital prior to Biden finally ordering it to be shot down.
