MSNBC guest invokes Reagan to trash GOP: ‘Every opportunity they’ve had to turn back, they haven’t’

The left-wing gaslighting specialists at MSNBC are counting on their viewers being completely ignorant of history by invoking former President Ronald Reagan as a device to further their political agenda and to smear America First Republicans as Putin-loving fascists.

Reagan – who is widely regarded among conservatives as one of the greatest Republican presidents in history with his effectiveness proven by the level of hatred that Democrats and liberals have for him – was exhumed by former CNN commentator Tara Setmayer and ex-RNC boss Michael Steele as a prop to dishonestly depict Republicans who are supportive of the policies of former President Donald J. Trump as authoritarians while desecrating the Gipper’s legacy.

Steele, who was filling in for host Joy “the race lady” Reid on Friday’s edition of “The ReidOut” suggested that America First Republicans are Putin lovers.

“When did we kick Reagan to the curb?” he asked. “Why are we seeing so many Republicans more and more infatuated with the ideology of Vladimir Putin and Victor Orbán and any of the fascists that they find in Europe?”

The guest host then turned the floor over to Setmayer, a flaming liberal who was presented as a Republican voice of authority because she once worked as a GOP communications staffer on Capitol Hill.

“I didn’t leave the Republican Party. The party left me,” Setmayer replied, twisting Reagan’s famous remark about why he switched parties.

“And once the party started to embrace the Tea Party and then Trumpism and then obviously the malignancy of Trumpism after all of the transgressions of Donald Trump, we’ve seen that the party is unrecognizable now,” she said, because muh…Trump, it’s always about Trump with the obsessive kooks who serve as foot soldiers of the so-called Resistance and comprise the viewing audience for MSNBC’s programming.

“Ronald Reagan is spinning in his grave and he would never win a primary election in today’s Republican Party,” Setmayer opined. “Why? Because Ronald Reagan actually stood against fascism and authoritarianism. And today’s Republican Party’s fascination with these authoritarians and fascism is consistent with what they’re doing now.”

She added, “And the Republican Party’s such a personality cult now, that they are incapable of course-correcting. They’ve gone down this authoritarian path. There’s no turning back. Every opportunity they’ve had to turn back, they haven’t.”

One very important aspect of Reagan’s historic leadership that was conveniently left out by Steele and Setmayer is that the nation’s 40th president, who was an inspirational leader in the battle against Soviet communism and whose policies helped to end the Cold War, actually engaged in diplomacy with then-Russian leader Mikhail Gorbachev, a common practice from U.S. leaders in the days before our democracy became a corrupt kakistocracy thanks to President Joe Biden and his despotic Democrat ilk.

Reagan was also an outspoken critic of the totalitarian practices of communist regimes which would include such things as suppression of free speech, propaganda, censorship, government persecution of political enemies, sketchy elections and the indefinite detention of political prisoners in prisons and gulags, all of which are now features of Biden’s America.

“The extremists now are the mainstream,” Setmayer concluded without a hint of irony.
