A Michigan father found out the hard way that he should have practiced better security measures with his smartphone after food from the delivery service Grubhub began to show up at his front door, courtesy of his six-year-old son who had a ball while playing with the app.
On Saturday night, Keith Stonehouse was perplexed when the parade of delivery drivers bearing a variety of culinary delights including jumbo shrimp, chili cheese fries, chicken sandwiches and ice cream began arriving at his residence in Chesterfield Township, soon discovering that young Mason Stonehouse was the culprit who had rung up nearly $1,500 on dad’s credit card
“Last night I let Mason play with my phone for a bit before bed. Well, that cost me $1,000! He ordered food on my Grubhub app from all over town. Imagine my shock when delivery driver after delivery driver show up last night dropping off food at my doorstep. When I finally put two and two together that it was Mason, I had a little talk with him about it (by this time he was in bed listening to the doorbell ring repeatedly and me expressing my frustration from downstairs) he had the audacity to ask me if the pepperoni pizza had come yet!!!!????” Stonehouse wrote on Facebook.

“I almost lost my mind. I had to walk out of the room because I wasn’t sure If I was going to punch a hole in the drywall or laugh out loud and shake my head. So, if you’re hungry and you’re in the mood for 5 orders of jumbo shrimp, salad, grape leaves, rice, 3 hanis, several orders of chili cheese fries, chicken shawarma sandwiches, and plenty of Ice cream – swing on by SMH. (Note: Chase declined all of the pepperoni pizzas that he ordered thankfully flagging it for fraud. $439.00 worth to be exact). (What’s shown in the pics isn’t even all of it,” he said, posting an image of the unwanted food along with a notification from Chase’s fraud department informing him that he would not be charged for the additional order of $439 to a local pizzeria.

“This was like something out of a ‘Saturday Night Live’ skit,” Stonehouse told MLive. “I was probably a 9.5 out of 10 anger while it was happening. The next day, I was at an eight and now I’m at about a three. I don’t really find it funny yet, but I can laugh with people a little bit. It’s a lot of money and it kind of came out of nowhere.”
“He’s 6, so it doesn’t kind of sink in. It’s not like if our 13-year-old did this, then it would sink in to him,” he added. “Trying to explain this to a 6-year-old, we told him we took money out of his piggy bank to pay for this bag of food and this one and so on. We could tell he was upset, but we don’t know if it has really sunk in. That’s the frustrating part.”
Grubhub ended up giving Mr. Stonehouse a $1,000 gift card for the trouble, much to the dismay of Fox News funnyman Greg Gutfeld.

“Screw you Grubhub,” groused Gutfeld. “Do you know how much money I spend on Grubhub? And I do it the right way, you give it to some brat?”
“I knew this could happen, but you just don’t think your kid is going to do something like this. He’s definitely smart enough, I just didn’t expect it,” Mr. Stonehouse said.
