Don’t blame the migrants for being ungrateful, blame us

As illegal aliens protested getting the boot from their Manhattan hotel to be put up at a shelter near the Brooklyn waterfront, a closer look at those outraged appeared to show the left has taken to importing astroturf.

Sunday night, single male illegals that had been moved from a now-defunct Randall’s Island shelter to The Watson Hotel on West 57th Street refused to go along with being sent to a temporary shelter at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal to make room for families.

Fox News host Jesse Watters described it Monday by saying, “The city is trying to send them to a different taxpayer-funded shelter. But they got used to a life of luxury. The hotel they are in now has a pool, gym, TVs, dry cleaning, a restaurant, bar and lounge. They don’t want to go somewhere that doesn’t have those types of amenities.”

According to an unidentified man outside the hotel, seemingly speaking on behalf of the aliens, “So the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal is a large structure. It’s not meant to be inhabited. It is 1,000 beds, beds made out of hard material. There is no space for personal belongings, if you have personal belongings you have to put them in a locker that’s out of your control. There’s only four bathrooms for 1,000 men, which is unsustainable. For anybody who is working, it’s in an isolated part of the city, away from where many of them work and it’s cold.”

That same man would go on to detail, “The longer term solution is that — to reallocate funding from overfunded departments like the NYPD into housing vouchers and other programs that get people into permanent, stable housing.” In other words, open the border and defund the police, a move that would only further exacerbate the rising crime in cities like New York where four men, including three illegals put up at another NYC hotel, were arrested after an altercation ended in multiple stabbings.

The New York Post Editorial Board took a closer look at what was going on outside The Watson and asked why so many of the migrants sounded like activists. Their conclusion, “Because activists are deeply involved in the standoff itself…Like Sergio Tupac Uzurin, an activist with NYC ICE Watch who’s been front and center protesting the migrant move. He claims that some migrants who saw the Brooklyn facility they’re being moved to called it a ‘refugee camp.'”

“Wow,” the outlet went on, “that’s the exact same term used by lefty critics of [Mayor Eric] Adams’ other migrant facilities. What a coincidence!”

Watters went on to chide the demands of the illegals and said, “When someone else is paying, you don’t get to choose where your room is.”

“Our rules, our house. We pay the bills. And it’s a big bill. At least a million a month just for the hotels,” he added before noting, “They should be thankful they are not getting deported. We had a president who deported migrants and built hotels. And now we have a president who imports migrants and pays for the hotels.”

“They come here saying they wanna work, and then protest if they don’t get free rent. I guess they’re assimilating quickly,” the host quipped before continuing the segment with feedback from upset residents, reports of trashed hotel rooms and lewd behavior in stairwells, and President Joe Biden’s failed app that Watters mockingly described by saying it “let’s them make a reservation for when they want to break into the country.”

The Post further highlighted signs that cropped up at the protest outside the Watson with slogans like “cancel rent” as groups like the South Bronx Mutual Aid, described as “Democratic Socialists of American-adjacent” and NYC Sweep Alerts who warn illegals about raids joined in supporting the evicted aliens.

“The migrant standoff,” the outlet concluded, “in other words, isn’t about justice, nor even the migrants themselves. It’s about spotting and using an opportunity to advance left-wing power politics. And if New York’s most compassionate have to use vulnerable migrants as their megaphone — hey, can’t make an omelet without breaking the eggs!”
