‘No filtering, no face lift’: Martha Stewart, 81, touts youthful complexion but some call BS

When it comes to selfies being the talk of the internet, a few names usually come to mind and most of them end in Kardashian, but 81-year-old Martha Stewart was all the buzz Sunday when she shared some spur-of-the-moment shots with the caption, “no filtering my selfie!”

The aged businesswoman and television personality marketing everything from lighters to tequila took some time to promote herself and her lifestyle when the “light was perfect” during her recent trip to the salon. With her head tipped back over a sink and her hair matted from a wash, Steward puckered up for the camera and fired away until she landed on the image she liked most.

Taking to Instagram she wrote, “Lying in the shampoo area @FredericFekkai the light was perfect for a new selfie!!! Absolutely no re-imaging!!! Skin looking good after a mostly dry January and pilates @bedfordpilates every other day. By re -imaging I meant no filtering my selfie!”

Within a couple of hours, Stewart returned to the social media site and doubled down on the impromptu photo shoot, adding the other images she took Sunday along with the caption, “These are the other three selfies I took. My expression was better in the first one but my skin looks great in all of them. Un filtered. No face lift. Great derms my whole life. Currently dr Daniel Belkin and dr Dhaval Bhanusali great diet. Great exercise and did I mention amazing facials @mariobedescu for the last forty years!”

Though there were many enamored with the posted shots, with many commenting hearts or the fire emoji, as well as her named doctor Bhanusali who both applauded and thanked Stewart, many were critical of the suggestion from the wealthy businesswoman that images with at least some makeup visible were as “natural” as she made them out to be.

“Bullsh*t” many commented bluntly as one person wrote, “And this ladies and gents, is perfect plastic surgery.”

“Fake lashes, Botox, filler, collagen lips & a face lift for that natural look,” another chimed in while someone else said to be 67-years-old lamented their own healthy choices that have resulted in “smokers lip, dropping eye lids, bags under my eyes, dropping jowls, deep frown lines by my cheeks,” and added, “I have used Estée Lauder all my life…Maybe I should file a lawsuit against Estée Lauder!”

Not everyone was as hypercritical of the mogul who recently made waves for cutting a promo for Pfizer to promote their COVID money mill and had also done a spot for Green Mountain Coffee in September where she appeared “topless” under an apron with the hashtag “go #FallNaturale.” One person referred to Stewart as a “thirst trap” and a makeup artist suggested, “Don’t defend your beauty,,, every time I have done your makeup I have been impressed by your beautiful skin.”

On a more poignant note, one user didn’t comment about Stewart’s looks one way or the other, but instead said, “This is sad. We are all going to get old. I have admired Martha for decades and learned a lot about health wellness from her books. I think she is struggling with her mortality. We will all face it someday, even the rich and famous can’t escape it.”
