‘Karma is a b***h’: Teen who got slap on the wrist for running over mom, baby found shot to death

In a shocking development that once again puts Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon in the hot seat, the troubled teenager — who, in 2022, after stealing a car and plowing it into a mother and her baby on a Venice, Calif., street, received a light sentence in a juvenile probation camp — was murdered this week, the victim of gun violence.

Kristopher Baca, who had not been previously identified due to his age, was shot to death and found by deputies in a Palmdale, Calif., driveway.

Det. Ray Lugo of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said that Baca, 17, was walking to his grandmother’s home, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Fox New Digital reports he was coming from a fast food restaurant, where he was trying to “get with a girl,” according to sources close to the investigation.

A red sedan pulled up behind him, and someone fired “numerous” shots at the teen, who died at the scene.

As American Wire News previously reported, Baca made national headlines when, as a 16-year-old under the influence of drugs ran straight into a mother, known only as “Rachel,” and her 10-month-old baby who was riding in a stroller, nearly killing them both. Baca then took off in an attempted hit-and-run.

The horrifying scene was caught on a security camera.

As American Wire later reported, Baca was already on felony probation for spiking a teenage girl’s drink in high school. The poisoning sent the girl to the hospital in 2019.

In the hit-and-run, the teen pled guilty to two felony charges of assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury and one felony count of hit-and-run.

The insufferably woke Gascon, known for going soft on criminals, sentenced the teen to just 5 months in juvenile probation camp, described as harsher than summer camp, but not as bad as a military school.

In a statement at the time, Gascon’s said, “In this case, this teen will be held accountable for his actions and receive the needed services to foster positive development to keep him from committing future offenses.”

Rachel said, “I have never been more surprised or disappointed, and, in fact, I have never felt so victimized as I have by the system and current policies of LA’s DA, George Gascon,” in a statement following Baca’s sentencing,

Rachel’s husband was out of town when she heard of Baca’s murder, according to Fox News Digital, leaving her alone to process the information, which gave her mixed feeling of sadness and relief.

“The universe delivered the justice we weren’t given in court, but a much harsher punishment than he’d have been dealt in a court of law,” she said. “I think I feel shorted — by the system because they didn’t hold him accountable and sad, not for him, but for his mom a little, because if George Gascon actually did his job, this kid would still be alive in jail.”

Online, few are showing any sympathy for Baca.

Said one Twitter user, “Karma is a bitch.”
