Something extraordinarily strange happened at this year’s Miss Universe competition on Saturday. The pageant’s new owner took the stage to proclaim that women now run the competition for the first time in its 71-year history. But there was a slight problem.

“The Miss Universe Organization from now on is going to be ran by women, owned by a trans woman, for all women really around the world to celebrate the power of feminism,” Jakrajutatip says in the clip above.
He was correct about it being “owned” by a “trans woman” but definitely wrong about it being “ran by women.” As far as anyone can tell, it’s being run by men, as noted by critics.

Jakrajutatip bought Miss Universe in October, according to CNN.
“A Thai media tycoon and transgender rights advocate has bought the Miss Universe Organization for $20 million, according to [his] company, which will now host the international beauty pageant,” the U.S. outlet reported at the time.
“Anne Jakkaphong Jakrajutatip is the CEO of JKN Global Group PCL, a Thailand-based media distribution company, though [he’s] perhaps better known for [his] role in Thai versions of reality shows including ‘Project Runway.'”
Upon Jakrajutatip buying the company, the media — including CNN — began celebrating it boasting its “first woman owner” ever:
CNN: “The purchase makes Jakkaphong the first woman owner of the Miss Universe Organization.”
Axios: “Thai transgender business mogul Anne Jakapong Jakrajutatip has become the first woman to own the Miss Universe pageant after purchasing the franchise for $20 million.”
NBC News: “Anne Jakkapong Jakrajutatip, the CEO of the Thailand-based JKN Global Group, is the first woman to own the global beauty pageant organization.”
Yahoo Sports: “The Miss Universe Organization, which includes the Miss USA pageant, has been sold to Anne Jakrajutatip. She is the first woman to own Miss Universe and one of the richest transgender women in the world.”
Etc.
But critics say this narrative is a perfect example of the misogyny inherent in transgenderism:

That said, Miss Universe’s foray into the “woke” began long before Jakrajutatip bought the competition.
It started in 2018, when the competition allowed a “transgender woman” (biological male) to compete for the first time ever.
“While she didn’t win the crown, Angela Ponce broke barriers on Monday in the 67th Miss Universe pageant. The 27-year-old Spanish beauty became the first transgender woman to ever participate in the international competition,” NBC News reported at the time.
In a statement to the outlet, Ponce said, “I never imagined [I would make it to Miss Universe] because I lived in a society where everyone said I couldn’t do that. And I didn’t have the information to realize that my dream to be a woman could ever actually be realized.”
Since then, it’s been a downward spiral:
