President Joe Biden’s lawyers discovered ten classified documents in his former office at a Washington think tank six days before the midterm elections — a Chinese-funded think tank, according to Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark.
Yet, the discovery did not see the light of day until Monday, which is when the White House publicly acknowledged the presence of the documents, and this has some Republican lawmakers questioning the delay.
One lawmaker, U.S. Rep. Don Bacon, R-Neb., is going so far as to call the slow release of the news a “cover-up.”
“When you cover up something before an election, that is probably a point that needs to be highlighted,” Bacon told reporters Tuesday morning, according to the Daily Mail, adding that the White House not saying “a darn thing till after the election looks political me.”
Even The New York Times admitted the discovery would have been “explosive” just before the election:
The White House statement said that it “is cooperating” with the department but did not explain why Mr. Biden’s team waited more than two months to announce the discovery of the documents, which came a week before the midterm congressional elections when the news would have been an explosive last-minute development.
The president learned about the presence of the documents when his attorney reported them to the White House counsel’s office on Nov. 2, according to CBS News. The counsel’s office then notified the National Archives, which took possession of the materials the following morning and notified the Justice Department.
U.S. Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., the new chairman of the House Oversight Committee, said he plans to send a letter to the National Archives on Tuesday demanding answers. Comer also expressed concerns about the handling of Biden’s documents in comparison to the FBI’s raid of former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home in Florida last year.
“Is the White House going to be raided tonight?” Comer asked, according to Fox News. “Are they going to raid the Biden center? I don’t know.”
“This is further concern that there’s a two-tier justice system within the DOJ with how they treat Republicans vs. Democrats … certainly how they treat the former president vs. the current president,” he added.
Trump asked the same question on his Truth Social app, “When is the FBI going to raid the many homes of Joe Biden, perhaps even the White House?”
“It’s always one set of rules for President Trump — they literally raided his home 91 days before the midterm election — and a different standard it seems with President Biden. So, we’ll go from there,” said incoming House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, who wants to see the documents before proceeding.
The media is certainly handling the Biden case differently, taking pains to note how it’s different from Trump’s case — one difference for sure is that as vice president, Biden had no legal right to remove any classified documents.
One big difference is one was a VP with no authority to unclassify documents but look at you guys go already. https://t.co/bSqCnfAulI

Matthew Miller, a former Obama Justice Department spokesman, was quick to run interference for the Democratic president:
…you cover it up, lie about it repeatedly to the government, and force them to raid your premises to retrieve the docs (ie act like a sociopath), in which case you can expect a criminal charge.

The fact that the think tank was funded by the CCP seems certainly a good cause to have kept the discovery under wraps until the election was over. Here’s a sampling of other responses to the story from Twitter:
We all know why it was kept secret—right before the midterms—that Joe Biden kept classified documents at his Chinese-funded “think tank.”
— Tom Cotton (@TomCottonAR) January 10, 2023
Biden stole classified documents and stored them at his think tank while he was VP.
The VP does not have any authority to declassify classified documents.
And this “think tank” received $54 million in funding from the CCP.

Biden classified doc story is a big deal.
He was VP at time thus no authority to declassify anything…
Biden’s docs were discovered before midterms – but public wasn’t told until NOW

The @TheJusticeDept knew before the midterm elections that Joe Biden had CLASSIFIED documents unsecured at a Think Tank office – and they didn’t disclose it.
Why isn’t the DC media outraged about election interference?

Now begins the big media tap dance to explain why Biden’s retention of classified documents is perfectly fine while Trump’s doing the same constitutes a horrific criminal offense that should permanently bar him from ever holding public office! pic.twitter.com/J0cytBuF4r

The first red flag 🚩 should’ve been “Biden think tank”

.@TomFitton: Breaking: Biden gang covers up discovery of classified records in VP Biden's office just before November elections! Will there now be a raid of Biden's "home"? Exposes absurdity and double standards of harassment of Trump! pic.twitter.com/IugI8EBIbf
