Here are 5 MAJOR bombshells Prince Harry drops from new book during ’60 Minutes’ interview

The wait is nearly over for adoring fans of Prince Harry whose hotly anticipated memoir will hit bookshelves on Tuesday, and the Duke of Sussex has been making the rounds on media to promote his life’s story, most recently on “60 Minutes” where he dropped numerous bombshells including dishing details on a physical altercation with his brother Prince William.

The Royal Family rock star, who went from a mere member of Britain’s ruling elite to an international sensation as a result of his marriage to high-maintenance American actress Meghan Markle and his subsequent move across the pond to his adopted home in California, sat down with host Anderson Cooper on the CBS flagship for a wide-ranging interview that served as a tease for those who are eager to shell out their hard-earned money for a copy of “Spare,” even though many of the more juicy parts of the book have already been reported on by the media.

One of the revelations that Harry made during his sit-down with Cooper is that he sought proof that his mother Princess Diana, who was killed in a 1997 car crash, was really in the vehicle, a tragic accident that took place as she and boyfriend, Dodi Al-Fayed were chased by paparazzi, causing driver Henri Paul to lose control of their vehicle inside of Pont de l’Alma tunnel in Paris, an incident that has fueled conspiracy theories for decades.

“The files contained photographs of the crash scene. Why did you want to see it?” Cooper asked the Duke.

“Mainly proof,” Harry responded. “Proof that she was in the car. Proof that she was injured. And proof that the very paparazzi that chased her into the tunnel were the ones that were taking photographs – photographs of her lying half dead on the back seat of the car.”

“You write in the book, ‘I hadn’t been aware before this moment,’ talking about looking at the pictures of the crash scene, ‘that the last thing Mummy saw on this earth was a flash bulb.’ That’s what you saw in the pictures?” Cooper inquired.

“Well they were … the pictures showed the reflection of a group of photographers taking photographs through the window, and the reflection on the window was – was them,” Harry, who was asked by his private secretary to not look at the rest of the pictures, said.

“All I saw was the back of my mum’s head – slumped on the back seat. There were other more gruesome photographs, but I will be eternally grateful to him for denying me the ability to inflict pain on myself by seeing that. Because that’s the kinda stuff that sticks in your mind forever,” he added.

He also described Camilla Parker Bowles who married his father, then-Prince Charles whom she had been connected with for years, in 2005 as a “villain,” another shot at his family, albeit one that will help to sell books.

“She was the villain. She was the third person in their marriage,” he said. “She needed to rehabilitate her image.”

He also confirmed that both he and his brother asked their father, who is now King of England, to not marry Bowles.

“We didn’t think it was necessary. We thought that it was gonna cause more harm than good and that if he was now with his person, that surely that’s enough,” Harry said. “Why go that far when you don’t necessarily need to? We wanted him to be happy. And we saw how happy he was with her. So, at the time, it was, ‘OK.'”

Prince Harry also told Cooper that he came to blows with his brother, the Prince of Wales, due to tensions over his marriage to Markle.

“It was a buildup of – frustration, I think, on his part. It was at a time where he was being told certain things by people within his office. And at the same time, he was consuming a lot of the tabloid press, a lot of the stories. And he had a few issues, which were based not on reality,” he said. “And I was defending my wife. And he was coming for my wife – she wasn’t there at the time – but through the things that he was saying. I was defending myself. And we moved from one room into the kitchen. And his frustrations were growing, and growing, and growing. He was shouting at me. I was shouting back at him. It wasn’t nice. It wasn’t pleasant at all. And he snapped. And he pushed me to the floor.”

He also recalled cutting his back after he  “landed on the dog bowl.” saying that Prince William apologized but also asked him not to tell Markle.

“And, I didn’t until she – until she saw on the – on my back. She goes, ‘What’s that?’ I was like, ‘Huh, what?’ I actually didn’t know what she was talking about. I looked in the mirror,” he recalled. “I was like, ‘Oh s—.’ Well, ‘cause I’d never, I hadn’t seen it.”

The emasculated ginger-haired Royal also talked about his drug use, a topic that some have suggested might create immigration problems for him after he admitted in his book that he imbibed several illicit, mind-altering substances, at least partly to deal with his grief over his mother’s tragic death, saying that he “resorted to drinking heavily. Because I wanted to numb the feeling, or I wanted to distract myself from how … whatever I was thinking. And I would, you know, resort to drugs as well.”

“I would never recommend people to do this recreationally. But doing it with the right people if you are suffering from a huge amount of loss, grief or trauma, then these things have a way of working as a medicine,” Prince Harry said, “For me, they cleared the windscreen, the windshield the misery of loss. They cleared away this idea that I had in my head that – that my mother, that I needed to cry to prove to my mother that I missed her. When in fact, all she wanted was for me to be happy.”

As for his relationship with his father and brother, Harry acknowledged that he simply doesn’t speak with them.

“Uh, currently, no. But I look forward to – I look forward to us being able to find peace. I want … ,” he said when asked if he’d spoken to William, saying that it’s been “awhile” since the two talked.

Cooper then asked if he speaks with King Charles III.

“We aren’t – we haven’t spoken for quite a while. Um, no, not recently,” Harry answered, prompting Cooper to ask. “Can you see a day when you would return as a full-time member of the royal family?”

“No. I can’t see that happening,” he said.

As for repairing the fractured relationship with his family since he hooked up with Markle, the Duke of Sussex said, “The ball is very much in their court, but, you know, Meghan and I have continued to say that we will openly apologize for anything that we did wrong, but every time we ask that question, no one’s telling us the specifics or anything. There needs to be a constructive conversation, one that can happen in private that doesn’t get leaked.”
