Stacey Randecker is REALLY passionate about bicycling, as a member of a San Francisco Fire Department rescue squad would find out after parking in the bike lane — she even has a website where she boasts: “Shining a bright light onto the problems up ahead and offering insightful guidance for the smoothest possible ride.”
In a video she took of the encounter, an appalled Randecker rants uncontrollably after coming upon the vehicle on an otherwise empty street. In sharing the clip on Twitter, she added, “San Francisco wants to kill us.”
“I am losing my goddamn mind. Here is an ambulance in the bike lane!” the out-of-breath cyclist raged in the footage, pointing to other areas where the vehicle could have parked. “What the f*ck! What the f*ck!”
Approaching the door on the driver’s side, which is occupied, Randecker seethed, “Get. Out. Of. The. Bike. Lane. — You are killing us!!!”
To their credit, the driver looked at what had to appear as a raging lunatic outside the window and, after giving an ever-so-slight smirk one might give a crazy person, proceeded to move the vehicle. An act that, unfortunately, only empowered the San Francisco Karen.

Randecker repeats what she thinks she hears the driver say, ” You’re on break? What? Get out — unbelievable!”
The video prompted a response from the San Francisco Fire Department offering a little clarity.
“Thank you for sharing this. The crews did not say they ‘were on a break’, they were finishing a medical emergency with a patient care document from a call at that location which is why they moved to the other side of the street rather than engage with you. Have a safe day,” the department tweeted.

Not about to be shown up, Randecker responds to the tweet to make it clear that no one knows better than her what was going on — something we suspect is a recurring theme with her.
“The driver was texting on her phone. She was NOT filling out paperwork,” she tweeted. “And there are almost zero instances for being stationary in a bikelane. That you think this was all fine speaks volumes about why our streets are so deadly.”

Michael Falcone, who identifies himself on Twitter as a musician and long-time San Francisco resident, would weigh in online to say Randecker is well known in the city for her antics and included a video to support that view:
“Yes, we all know local toddler and pearl clutcher @drivingmzstacey, here in San Francisco,” he tweeted. “Here she is in a video asking to be arrested by the @SFPD. My three year old has better sense when it comes to navigating traffic.”

Evidently, she was appalled that police were reopening streets to vehicles that had been closed as part of a “Sunday Streets in San Francisco” event. In a long Twitter threat, where Randecker ranted about “how demented our city, state, & society are,” she included the moment of her arrest. The woman can be heard screaming out of control as the cops put her in handcuffs.
I gave Officer “Anger Management Issues” my name.
DOB I gave MM/DD.
Note: I’m the only “Stacey Randecker” in all of CA. I’ve only seen one other on earth. I knew they could find me.
But he said I was resisting arrest and proceeded to forcibly cuff the 5’2”, 120lb Mom.— BikingMzStacey❤️ (@drivingmzstacey) July 11, 2022
By the way, Randecker would offer this solution: “We cannot have the police be the thing that ‘keeps us safe’ from drivers. We need infrastructure which protects us. And if there are streets with ‘lots of collisions’ we should remove cars until we figure out what the hell is going on.”
Her latest video-tantrum garnered her very little sympathy from sane people:

Uhm… this is not the flex you think it is. Love bikes/biking. Also love love, gratitude, courtesy & respect. Would encourage you to mix a couple of those into your heart. Medics aren’t “killing you”, they’re saving you. Mix in some thankfulness – it’s awesome for the heart.

Artificial whiny outrage. Sigh.

I bike every single day. The one thing I do not complain about is emergency vehicles or fire department professionals. They get to park where they need to and, for them, I’m willing to pick my bike up and port around them on the sidewalk if the street isn’t safe.

Am I missing something? How does this unit being parked here equate to “San Francisco wants to kill us”? I literally would call PD for back up because someone is approaching the ambulance in an erratic manner.

As a lifelong cyclist, this fever-pitch hyperbole is absurd. To see someone on a rental bike scream at a first responder is disgusting. If you’re not confident enough on a bike to go around, then you should walk.

Well done @SFFDPIO for handling it the situation with such grace.
