Elon Musk issues a warning for ‘legacy media’ with cryptic tweet

As the world prepares to ring in 2023, it is likely that future historians will look back on 2022 and deem the explosive “Twitter Files” as a turning point for America as a whole and, specifically, for “corporate journalism,” which Twitter CEO Elon Musk says is “rushing” to back the state, rather than the people it purports to inform.

Replying to a Substack post from writer Leighton Woodhouse titled “In Response to the Twitter Files, Establishment Media Rushes to Defend the FBI,” Musk asked on Tuesday, “Why is corporate journalism rushing to defend the state instead of the people?”

It was Musk’s stance as  “a free speech absolutist” that led him to take over Twitter and release, via lengthy threads from independent journalists including Bari Weiss, Matt Taibbi, and David Zweig, internal documents that prove the FBI, CIA, and the White House colluded with the social media platform to suppress stories that contradict the administration’s official narratives on everything from Hunter Biden to COVID-19.

Journalists who dared to report on inconvenient findings were “shadowbanned” or booted from Twitter altogether.

With the veil of propaganda lifted, the liberal-leaning mainstream media has gone into overdrive, attempting to smear the billionaire’s good name.

Axios Business Reporter Hope King appeared on CNBC’s “Squawk Box” on Tuesday and declared that Musk’s reputation is “in danger.”

“All of the macro conditions are against his favor,” she said. “Market-share for $TSLA is down year-over-year. His reputation with Twitter is impacting his reputation when it comes to all of his companies.”

Musk fired back, stating, “The legacy media should worry about its reputation. We have only just begun.”

Musk’s unapologetic criticism of the press has been, much to the delight of conservative Twitter, relentless.

Responding earlier this month to a tweet discussing a Harvard poll, immigration, and the false beliefs held by the majority of Americans, Musk tweeted, “Why is this never in the news?”

“The people running the news companies in America hate America & Americans,” replied popular YouTuber An0maly.

“How did it come to be this way?” Musk lamented.

In November, the Chief Twit asked, “Why are so many in the media against free speech?”

“This is messed up,” he added.

The comment followed news that the White House is keeping a “close eye” on Twitter now that Musk is in charge.

And, on Christmas Eve, Musk proclaimed, “No special treatment for corpo journalists anymore.”

As their control over what people are allowed to read, think, and discuss fizzles, the personal attacks from those “corpo journalists” have become increasingly juvenile.

Most recently, Musk decreed that Twitter’s policy moving forward is to “follow the science, which necessarily includes reasoned questioning of the science,” leading some journalists to throw hollow, name-calling hissy-fits.

Because he could not pull Elon Musk’s ponytail on the playground, New York Times contributor Wajahat Ali retorted, “Something a really dumb person would tweet.”

At least he didn’t hold his breath.
