After ‘total vindication’ in NY, Giuliani fights to keep law license at D.C. hearing as Trump ‘witch hunt’ marches on

There can be little doubt that the left is waging a politically-motivated war against not just former President Donald Trump, but against anyone who supported him.

One only needs to look at the attempts to discredit, demonize, and, ultimately, destroy the legal career of one of the nation’s most respected, beloved mayors, Rudy Giuliani, who this week was forced to defend his license to practice law before the D.C. Board on Professional Responsibility of the D.C. Bar for his role as Trump’s personal attorney in challenging the 2020 presidential election.

As The Washington Post reported earlier this week, the D.C. Bar, represented by Hamilton “Phil” Fox III, accused America’s Mayor of weaponizing “his law license by filing a frivolous lawsuit” in Pennsylvania and called for his license to be revoked.

Law360 reporter Katie Buehler covered Thursday’s closing arguments in the hearing on Twitter in a thread that illustrates just how far Trump’s opponents are willing to go to silence anyone who dares to question the clearly questionable elections of 2020.

“A committee member asked whether there should be some more leeway in the standard for pre-filing investigations given the short deadlines related to election litigation,” Buehler tweeted. “The disciplinary counsel said no, that there’s no presumption you have a right to file a lawsuit.”

“In another question, a committee member asked how to distinguish between a frivolous lawsuit and one formed out of zealous advocacy,” she continued. “The disciplinary counsel said lawyers face those predicaments every day, and that they’re tasked with deciding if a lawsuit can be brought.”

“It was Giuliani’s obligation as a lawyer to say, ‘I can’t subject defendants to a lawsuit where I have no factual basis to bring that lawsuit,’ the disciplinary counsel said,” according to Buehler.

It’s the latest in a long and exhausting list of attacks against Giuliani.

As American Wire News reported, in April 2021, the feds executed an early morning raid on Giuliani’s Upper East Side apartment.

The raid was reportedly part of a criminal investigation into the former mayor’s Ukraine dealings.

Just a week after November’s midterm elections, and after reports of the allegations were splashed across the internet, New York federal prosecutors announced they wouldn’t be pursuing criminal charges against Giuliani after all.

Giuliani called the victory “complete and total vindication.”

Meanwhile, Trump and the Trump Organization have been hit with lawsuit after lawsuit, in what is clearly a bid to preclude him from again seeking the White House.

Earlier this week, Trump’s family real estate business was found guilty by a Manhattan jury of, among other things, tax fraud.

And, as of this writing, prosecutors with the Department of Justice are calling on a federal judge to hold Trump’s office in contempt of court over a subpoena that ordered all classified documents be returned, including those found in a South Florida storage unit.

“President Trump and his counsel continue to cooperate and be transparent, despite the unprecedented, illegal, and unwarranted attacks by the weaponized Department of Justice,” said Trump spokesman Steven Cheung in a statement.

Cheung called the ordeal “a political witch hunt unlike anything this country has ever seen.”

In September, MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell was cornered by the FBI at a fast-food drive-thru and his phone was seized, and, before that, Trump adviser Peter Navarro was cuffed and shackled in an airport by the feds.

With respect to Mayor Giuliani’s hearing, Buehler reports, “The ethics committee will now decide whether Giuliani violated ethics rules. The committee didn’t say when that ruling would come down, but told parties they would let them know by Dec. 14.”
