Chris Christie’s niece arrested, thrown off Spirit airplane; kicks, bites, injures 6 deputies, officials say

Former Republican New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s niece was arrested after she was involved in an ugly incident onboard a Spirit Airlines flight in New Orleans where she reportedly fought with deputies, biting one and kicking another in the groin.

The action went down on Thanksgiving Day when 25-year-old Shannon Epstein was on an early morning flight from New Orleans to New Jersey where she reportedly accused some fellow passengers whom she believed to be Latino of being drug mules, leading airline employees to make the call have her removed from the airplane which had already left the gate at Louis Armstrong International Airport.

Epstein had boarded the flight at around 6 a.m. on turkey day and then asked the family if they were “smuggling cocaine,” said Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Capt. Jason Rivarde and that airline workers had requested that she “be removed from the plane as she became increasingly irate, and the plane, which had started to taxi to the runway, returned to the gate.”

Deputies arrived to find Epstein refusing to leave the jet bridge leading to the terminal and became “extremely combative” when they attempted to arrest her, according to Rivarde.

Epstein allegedly put up a heck of a fight during which she “injured six deputies, biting one on the arm and breaking the skin, and kicking another in the groin” said Rivarde, the injured officers were treated at the scene by paramedics.

“All the while, Epstein shouted that the deputies were going to lose their jobs or end up in jail, boasting that she was related to powerful people and that her uncle is a friend of former President Donald Trump,” Rivarde said.

According to Rivarde, a total of seven deputies were needed to subdue Epstein who was handcuffed to a wheelchair in order to be moved to airport security’s office, and “she continued to shout vulgarities and try to bite deputies.”

She was booked with six counts of battery on a police officer, three counts of disturbing the peace, resisting arrest and remaining after forbidden. She was released from the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center after posting $10,750 bail later on Thanksgiving Day.

“Chris Christie did not return messages left Friday at two telephone numbers associated with him,” NOLA.com reported.

Christie served two terms as the governor of the Garden State, mixing in a failed presidential run before he left public office in 2018, paving the way for his successor Democrat Phil Murphy’s COVID totalitarianism when he, like his fellow party members, used the pandemic to exercise sweeping powers over citizens who were treated like subjects.

Since Christie’s departure from the governor’s mansion, he has settled into his role as a commentator for ABC’s “This Week” where he serves as the house conservative among Democrats including former DNC boss Donna Brazile and longtime Clinton family lickspittle George Stephanopoulos.

“Throughout her entire interaction with deputies, she repeatedly stated that they would lose their jobs or be arrested because of her familial relationships,” Rivarde told the New York Post about Epstein.
