Candace Owens leads mockfest of D-list celebs exodus from Twitter

Conservative firebrand Candace Owens hilariously pilloried D-list celebrities who have taken part in a “mass exodus” from Twitter after Chief Twit Elon Musk took the helm, quipping that it “reads sort of like a 1990s yearbook of people that” had their glory days in that decade.

She made the observation on Thursday during the “Candace Owens” show. Owens took aim at celebrities such as Jim Carrey, Whoopi Goldberg, Gigi Hadid, Amber Heard, and others who have jumped the Twitter ship simply “because they just can’t bear free speech.”

“It’s very upsetting to them,” she noted. “That the government is no longer controlling what we are saying to one another via fact-checkers and censoring stories taking out the New York Post for sharing the truth about Hunter Biden. They need that. That’s a better world for them. They want a world that is not real, but a world that is controlled.”

“And so many of them have lined up, issued statements, and said ‘You can no longer hear my thoughts in 180 characters or less because I won’t stand for this. I won’t stand for the First Amendment,’” Owens mused. “And the list of people reads sort of like a 1990s yearbook of people that, you know, you look in the yearbook in the nineties like, oh, I remember, I remember that person he peaked in elementary school or he peaked in middle school, peaked in high school.”

She went on to discuss Whoopi Goldberg who is way past her sell-by date.

“First and foremost, Whoopi Goldberg, I will never hate on her,” the vocal conservative declared. “She was so good in the ‘Sister Act.’ She definitely peaked in the ‘Sister Act.’ Loved her. You can no longer find her thoughts on Twitter. Moby, I didn’t know who that was, but somebody reminded me that was a singer or performer, an artist of some description and he performed at Woodstock in 1999. So yeah he peaked in the 90s.”

Then she addressed others from the 90s such as singer Toni Braxton and WWF wrestler “[Mick] Foley who … peaked in the 90’s” as well as the gifted singer “Sara Bareilles … She has a wonderful, wonderful voice. But I have to be completely honest, I did not know that she was even on Twitter, but now she’s no longer on Twitter.”

“Gigi Hadid, we all know the model,” Owens noted. “Gigi Hadid, I guess my question is, do models speak? Were models speaking? Was that a thing or if it was a thing, it’s a thing no longer because Gigi Hadid is not going to be speaking then. Of course, this one really took me by surprise. Amber Heard, she is very relevant.”

We just watched a trial in which we learned that she sometimes goes to the bathroom on her boyfriend’s bed when she gets upset,” she pointed out. “And I have to be honest, I find it mildly inappropriate that she left Twitter, especially because Elon Musk, her ex-boyfriend, took it over because Elon Musk, don’t forget, he dated her right after she accused Johnny Depp of all of these terrible things … He [Musk] issued a nice tweet back when he didn’t own Twitter about Amber Heard, said she was lovely, nothing bad …”

Then there is comedian Jim Carrey who Owens also claimed peaked “in the nineties with wonderful movies.” He’s also departing Twitter. Carrey included a “bizarre” video in his post that has now gone viral.

“I’m going to read you his tweet,” she said. “It says ‘I’m leaving Twitter. But first, here’s a cartoon I made with my friend Jimmy Hayward. It’s based on my painting of a crazy old lighthouse keeper standing naked in a storm, summoning the angels and shining his lamp to guide us through a treacherous night. I love you all so much!’”

“And I’m sad that Jim Carrey is leaving,” Owens claimed. “And, you know, it’s really on brand for him to kind of just leave it with a crazy video, because at the end of the day, Jim Carrey’s gotta Jim Carrey, and I think his actual character in real life is some semblance of all of the characters that he’s played on the screen for us. I think he’s still the ‘Ace Ventura,’ the guy that got pooped out by a hippopotamus, and ‘Ace Ventura’ is who Jim Carrey actually is. What a bizarre cartoon, guys.”

She finished by bidding farewell to those icons of the 90s who will be remembered for their talent but not for leaving Twitter.

“All of this to say it’s a sad day,” Owens concluded. “Mourn, be sad. All of these wonderful people that peaked in the nineties are no longer with us on Twitter. Rest In Peace, peeps. And that’s all I have to say about that.”
