Former President Donald Trump has been far from mum on the Justice Department’s appointment of a special counsel to investigate him and Sunday morning he lambasted the “political hit man” anew with some thoughts on who and what is “totally compromised.”
As sure as Democrats have been salivating that the walls will be closing in on Trump this time with Attorney General Merrick Garland’s appointment of former war crimes investigator for the International Criminal Court at The Hague, Jack Smith, as special counsel, the former president would have plenty to say about it. Sunday, he demonstrated his knack in handling the swamp and its creatures as he reminded about the radical agenda that drives many in the halls of government.
“Jack Smith (nice, soft name, isn’t it?),” Trump began with a targeted shot, “is a political hit man, who is totally compromised, and shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near our already highly WEAPONIZED & CORRUPT ‘Justice’ Department and FBI, which are stuffed with, and listening to, Radical Left ‘MONSTERS,’ who will cause difficulties for our Country the likes of which we have not seen before.”
“By the way,” he reminded, “OBAMA SPIED ON MY CAMPAIGN (and got caught!), & what about the MASSIVE Joe & Hunter BIDEN CORRUPTION (Evidence already in!)?”
To support his points, the president included an article from the Washington Examiner that detailed how Smith’s current appointment isn’t the first time he’s been roped into a politically driven investigation as he was part of the DOJ’s public integrity unit when under Lois Lerner and then-President Barack Obama, the IRS was targeting conservative nonprofit organizations. As Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) was quoted, “Jack Smith was looking for ways to prosecute the innocent Americans that Lois Lerner targeted during the IRS scandal.”
Trump himself posted with the link, “This sounds fair, doesn’t it? The ‘Justice’ Department is CORRUPT. Offered Christopher Steel $1,000,000 to lie about me, paid Russian a fortune to ‘get Trump,’ told Facebook not to mention the Hunter Biden Laptop before the Election, ‘it was Russian disinformation,’ when [they] KNEW it was not. Is Trump Hater Jack Smith going to investigate that? Will his Trump Hating boss, Lisa M, allow him to investigate the reason for January 6th, the corrupt 2020 election, or the troops I recommended be sent?”
Following his comment on the “political hit man,” the president went on to write in all capitals, “THE FAKE NEWS IS THE MOST CORRUPT OF ALL. THEY ARE TRULY THE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE – THE ENEMY OF THE USA. TURN IN THE SUPREME COURT LEAKER!” followed by, “January 6th was all about a highly CORRUPT ELECTION, which is the only thing the Unselects refused to investigate!”
Meanwhile, Garland has remained adamant that it is within the public interest for Trump to be investigated and not at all a partisan attack despite similar measures, as the president pointed out, not being taken to investigate President Joe Biden and connections he may have had with his son Hunter Biden’s foreign business deals.
“The Department of Justice has long recognized that in certain extraordinary cases it is in the public interest to appoint a special prosecutor to independently manage an investigation and prosecution,” Garland said at the announcement of Smith’s role. “Based on recent developments, including the former president’s announcement that his is a candidate for president in the next election, and the sitting president’s stated intention to be a candidate as well, I have concluded that it is in the public interest to appoint a special counsel.”
